Monday, May 11

7:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a deer struck and injured on the highway.

11:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that construction trucks working in Creechville were overweight. A deputy checked, and the trucks were okay.

5:00 p.m., Grand Marais: A Thunder Bay man, 55, was cited for speeding.

6:42 p.m., Grand Marais: The sheriff investigated a report of some “nasty” graffiti on the stone bridge along Highway 61 between the Trail Side Motel and Traveler’s Rest.,and determined that it was older because it was faded and a rusted can of red spray paint was found nearby.

Tuesday, May 12

8:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Child custody issue.

4:05 p.m., Grand Marais: State Patrol stopped and warned the driver of a Canadian truck that was seen speeding and passing unsafely near the Rock Cut.

8:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed near mile marker 96.

Thursday, May 14

9:52 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of stolen medication from the clinic.

12:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued to a 30-year-old Wisconsin man.

3:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle with Grand Portage plates ran a bus stop arm at Linnell Road.

7:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy investigated a complaint of illegal burning, and determined the fire was just brush and not too big, and therefore lawful.

9:34 p.m., Grand Marais: A Game Boy and 6 or 7 games were reported stolen out of a backpack at the skate park. The property was later returned.

Friday, May 15

10:45 a.m., Grand Marais: A Two Harbors man, 45, was issued a citation for speeding.

11:10 a.m., Grand Marais: A California man, 35, was issued a citation for speeding.

7:43 p.m., Grand Marais: The theft of two gas cans from a pickup truck was reported.

7:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Parent requested assistance with a teen.

11:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a cabin break-in investigated. It was determined the door was left unlocked, and nothing was out of place.

Saturday, May 16

1:23 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to remove a metal garbage can from Third Avenue East, which the caller said was rolling around and making a “terrible amount of noise.” A neighbor picked up the can before the deputy got there.

7:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a couple trees down on the Gunflint Trail. Referred to the Highway Department.

8:33 a.m., Lutsen: Report that a truck is in the Lutsen Cemetery, and appears like it has been there all night. The caller was concerned because a funeral was scheduled for later in the day.

1:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke to some people who were involved in a dispute in which threats of bodily harm were made. The matter was settled peaceably, and all parties agreed to go their separate ways.

4:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a neighbor who was sitting in his driveway, revving his engine.

Sunday, May 17

12:33 a.m., Grand Portage: Loud noise complaint regarding an outdoor party. The participants agreed to quiet down and there was no trouble.

2:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Three juvenile males were stopped for being out past curfew. A deputy spoke with their parents. 2:07 a.m. Tofte: AmericInn employee reported a Jeep-type vehicle whipping donuts in the parking lot, apparently in an effort to harass an employee who wasn’t working that night. The vehicle was gone when a deputy arrived.

11:17 a.m., Grand Portage: A vehicle that had been left at Mount Rose church overnight was damaged — the two back windows were bashed in.

11:38 a.m., Grand Portage: A man was arrested after Customs stopped him at the border with four Ecstasy pills in his possession.

7:43 p.m., Grand Portage: A Pine City man, 26, was arrested on warrants from Aitkin and Mille Lacs counties.
