7:04 a.m., Hovland: Deer struck by a
vehicle at mile marker 128.
11:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking
complaint regarding a black truck
parked the wrong way on Fifth Avenue
West.
11:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
expressed concern about a young fawn
walking across the highway really
tipsy, and then running around near
Paradise Beach. There was no adult
deer anywhere around.
1:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
expressed concern about a 10-year-old
who is left home alone 12 hours a day.
3:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
accident in the sheriff ’s office parking
lot. No injuries reported.
4:20 p.m., Grand Portage: Theft of
hydrocodone investigation.
6:01 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy
assisted U.S. Customs with a man who
blew through the border with three
rifles and seems to have the beginning
stages of Alzheimers.
Tuesday, June 4
8:30 a.m., Grand Portage: Theft of a
cell phone reported.
10:24 a.m., Grand Marais: A man said
he was being poisoned and was told to
go to the hospital. He said they were
worthless and hung up.
7:52 p.m., Grand Marais: A horse was
running eastbound on County Road 7.
9:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
lost yellow lab near Blue Moose.
Wednesday, June 5
6:07 a.m., Grand Marais: A man
wanted to report himself – he’s
intoxicated and hit a sign and wants to
get picked up.
6:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that
the runaway truck sign on the Gunflint
Trail was knocked down.
3:16 p.m., Hovland: The ditch on
North Road was burning.
4:16 p.m., Hovland: Damage to a cabin
reported. Two storm windows were
shot at.
6:02 p.m., Grand Marais: A black collie
was found in Harbor Park.
7:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about jackhammering at the high
school.
8:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
threats made at Birch Terrace.
Thursday, June 6
11:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Report
of suspicious activity off USFS 115;
someone has been tenting there.
12:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost cat
reported.
2:46 p.m., Grand Marais: At least two
juveniles were skateboarding off the
library roof.
4:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle
backed into another vehicle on West
Fifth Street, causing a small amount of
damage.
4:56 p.m., Lutsen: Harassing phone
calls reported.
Friday, June 7
5:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from
Holiday said he just realized he lost a
$2,400 canoe off his trailer last night. It
was last seen in Duluth. Neither Lake
County nor State Patrol has seen it or
received any reports of it.
6:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
he believes he left his wallet at DQ last
night.
2:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that
three juvenile males on skateboards
were hanging on to cars that stopped at
the stop sign at Sven & Ole’s, and they
just tried to do it to the UPS truck.
5:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
just heard a bang outside Gene’s Foods,
and about half the lights went out.
6:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about illegal burning.
8:55 p.m., Grand Marais: E-mail
report about a party at Eagle’s Nest this
weekend involving a lot of alcohol and
a bunch of teenagers.
9:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
a couple moose calves sleep on the
roadway near Swamper Lake and asked
if the county could place some caution
signs to keep them from getting hit by
vehicles.
10:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a bunch of noisy kids at
Birchwood Apartments. The caller said
the lease states they’re supposed to be
inside and quiet at dusk.
