Monday, May 20
12:02 a.m., Grand Marais: The municipal parking lot was
flooded and overflowing out into the street.
3:02 a.m., Lutsen: Power outage on Peninsula Point Trail.
7:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a washout on Caspers
Hill. The bus driver couldn’t get through to pick up the
kids.
7:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a utility pole leaning
on Devil Track Road.
9:29 a.m., Grand Marais: A fire started on Sag Lake Trail
after a transformer blew.
9:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Medical personnel sent to
assess the condition of some people who went into the
water at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters.
11:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an open garage door
flapping in the breeze on Broadway.
12:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $100 from
Holiday.
3:48 p.m., Grand Marais: The stoplight was out. Report
made to City Hall.
Tuesday, May 21
5:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of overdue campers at
the Seagull entrance.
4:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Child protection investigation.
6:37 p.m., Lutsen: Deer struck by a vehicle a mile west of
the golf course.
8:39 p.m., Grand Portage: Property damage (broken fire
alarm) reported at the lodge.
Wednesday, May 22
8:31 a.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported at the lodge.
The suspect tried to hit her daughter with a luggage cart.
9:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone was taking
pictures of either a student getting on the bus, or of the
bus, on Schoolhouse Road.
12:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a man was driving
with a revoked license.
12:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious activity reported at
a cabin on Croftville Road.
3:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A gray van struck a deer at mile
marker 122.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a black SVU with a
“Just Married” sign on the back passing and traveling
unsafely, headed toward Grand Marais.
8:22 p.m., Grand Portage: Thunder Bay man cited for
speeding (71/55).
11:55 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said his wife stole his
vehicle and has it in the Cities.
Thursday, May 23
3:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a dog chasing
deer in the area of East Fifth Street.
6:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a poodle in a parked
car near the Legion, with no windows open.
6:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a pretty intoxicated
woman in her 20s hanging around Harbor Inn for about
40 minutes, and she has been in and out of the area for
the last couple hours. She says she’s from out of state and
doesn’t know anybody in Minnesota.
9:17 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of $80 from the
C-Store.
10:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Duluth man cited for
speeding.
10:55 p.m., Grand Portage: Four gas drive-offs reported
from the C-Store.
Friday, May 24
6:40 a.m., Grand Marais: A boat with no registration
sticker washed up on the shore at Windigo. It was a 12-
or 14-foot boat with a motor and one oar, and was halffilled with water.
9:31 a.m., Hovland: A deer with a broken hip was
dispatched on North Road.
10:42 a.m., Tofte: Hit-and-run reported near Joe’s
Salvage.
6:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Plymouth man cited for
speeding.
7:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Minneapolis man cited for
speeding.
9:23 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of $170.03
reported from the C-Store.
9:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint about a car
left on Trout Lake Road.
11:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man cited for
speeding and no valid license.
Saturday, May 25
8:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a manhole
cover missing near the co-op, and it looks like a hazard.
Sunday, May 26
10:30 a.m., Grand Portage: Three gas drive-offs reported
from the C-Store.
11:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a tan dog wandering
on the highway near Traveler’s Rest.
3:23 p.m., Grand Marais: A young man fell off a rock on
the breakwater and suffered a gash on his head.
7:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assistance requested by
the occupants of a vehicle that broke down about 8 miles
up the Trail.
7:51 p.m., Grand Marais: A search was under way for a
missing 10-year-old girl who wandered out on Brandon
Lane.
10:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man walking
on the shoulder of the highway near mile marker 95,
wearing dark clothing and nothing reflective.
Monday, May 27
12:08 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of an underage party
going on at Townsite Road.
1:45 a.m., Schroeder: Deputy assisted with a search for a
missing boat at Taconite Harbor.
