Monday, April 29
7:34 a.m., Tofte: A deer with broken back legs was in the
front yard of AmericInn.
2:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a yellow lab has
been hanging around the highway for about three weeks,
and appears to have been dumped there. The dog has a
collar, but nobody has been able to catch it.
6:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle on the
highway near Rosebush Hill.
8:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a hazardous large
sinkhole on the lake side of the highway at mile marker
123. The cone markers are falling into the hole!
10:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a culvert near the
east end of Trout Lake Road has heaved up, and only one
lane is passable.
Tuesday, April 30
12:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint on
Fourth Avenue West.
9:40 a.m., Grand Portage: One of the gaming machines
at the lodge was damaged. It had been shaken so the gifts
would fall out without anybody paying, and some of the
more expensive gifts were taken.
10:45 a.m., Tofte: Caller said there was a disturbance of
some sort near the bike path at Chateau Leveaux last
night.
5:22 p.m., Grand Marais: A little black Chihuahua was on
the highway near Superior Lumber.
9:18 p.m., Grand Portage: A dog was found at the C-Store.
9:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Stalking reported, going on
since the 15th.
Wednesday, May 1
7:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Drug paraphernalia was spotted
under a light pole on Fourth Avenue West (spoon, baggy,
needle).
8:58 a.m., Grand Portage: A person was stopped and held
at the border by Customs with 4.6 grams of marijuana.
2:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his son who was
hiking the Superior Hiking Trail from Jackson Lake Road
to Two Harbors was possibly lost.
6:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a bright red truck
was trying to drive on the hiking trail above the Rec Park.
7:09 p.m., Hovland: A squad car was damaged as a result
of going into a ditch on a call on Camp 20 Road.
11:20 p.m., Grand Marais: A guy was lying near the flag
pole at City Hall, possibly drunk. He was struggling to
stand up.
Thursday, May 2
2:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he woke up and saw a
flashing light coming from the north/northeast.
6:53 a.m., Grand Marais: The stoplights in town were out.
4:12 p.m., Grand Marais: School Bus 5 took a wrong turn
and tried to turn around, and got stuck on County Road
6. A tow truck was called, and parents were being notified
of the delay.
5:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of cars driving into the
Rec Park at a high rate of speed.
Friday, May 3
10:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his truck was
broken into.
11:48 a.m., Schroeder: A deer was struck on the highway,
disabling the vehicle.
3:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost wallet
containing checks, credit cards and ID somewhere in
town.
8:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a
woodchuck in the engine of his vehicle and he was
looking for a noose-type thing to get it out.
10:55 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said he has been trying
to break up with his girlfriend and she was at his house
knocking on the door and would not leave.
Saturday, May 4
10:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Cows loose on Fall River Road.
7:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Cascade Beach
Road.
10:02 p.m., Grand Marais: A person fell down at the
Community Center and needed stitches.
Sunday, May 5
10:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Cloquet woman arrested on a
Carlton County warrant and taken to Lake County Jail.
3:05 p.m., Hovland: Vehicle fire about a half-mile in on
Jackson Lake Road.
3:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint on
Brandon Lane.
6:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Fraud complaint.
