Monday, Sept. 14
1:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone tried to get into her window. There was no description of the intruder, or any signs of forced entry.
2:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man arrested for fourthdegree driving while intoxicated (DWI).
3:49 a.m., Grand Portage: Grand Portage resident arrested for DWI after driving a dirt bike up and down Townsite Road for about two hours.
9:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Accident reported in the Senior Center parking lot. A pick-up truck was backed into.
2:44 p.m., Tofte: Ambulance requested after an 80-year-old man fell off a cliff and into the water behind the Tofte Fire Hall. The man was treated for cuts and abrasions.
3:57 p.m., Grand Marais: A man who was standing on the corner of Fourth Avenue West and First Street shooting a crossbow up the street was advised to go outside the city limits to target practice.
Tuesday, Sept. 15
11:16 a.m., Grand Marais: A stray dog was picked up and taken to the pound.
11:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported an odd occurrence at the Maple Hill Cemetery — bones and a dead rabbit without a head.
5:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a couple 3-year-olds playing near the highway with no adult supervision.
8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Woman reported a lost camera and stolen wallet from Lockport.
11:08 p.m., Grand Marais: An open door at a hangar at the airport was secured. It was believed one of the owners had the aircraft because there was not a plane inside.
Wednesday, Sept. 16
11:21 a.m., Grand Marais: A counterfeit $100 bill was found in a bank deposit.
7:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a 2-foot-deep hole extending across both lanes of the Gunflint Trail in the construction area. The Highway Department was notified.
Thursday, Sept. 17
12:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone was stalking a woman by phoning her, leaving notes and following her. A deputy spoke with the victim who said the man apologized to her, but she wanted it noted for now.
2:54 p.m., Schroeder: Report of trash on the highway just inside the Lake County border at mile marker 70.
Friday, Sept. 18
11:18 a.m., Grand Portage: An empty pill bottle for Loritab was found in a home, and the prescription was in the name of another.
6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted it known that he hired a guy in early September and just ended up firing him today because he did a background check and discovered he had a lengthy record.
8:51 p.m., Lutsen: An 8-year-old child called about his dad who went next door to the store, said he’d be back in a couple minutes, and it’s been over an hour and he’s still missing. The child was quite upset. The dad eventually came home, and a deputy went to the residence and spoke to the father.
Saturday, Sept. 19
12:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint from Birchwood Apartments.
1:30 a.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported.
6:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire alarm at the school. It was a false alarm.
1:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported loss of a camera bag and equipment on Coast Guard Point.
1:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone tried to enter a home about 1 a.m. The outside door slammed, dogs were barking, but the inside door was locked.
9:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of minors drinking wine behind Harbor View Apartments.
11:52 p.m., Lutsen: A deputy was requested to remove some guests at Lutsen Resort who were disturbing/crashing a wedding party on the beach. The intruders were escorted to their room and told not to return.
Sunday, Sept. 20
12:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Accident at the corner of County Road 7 and Highway 61. A driver missed the stop sign on County Road 7 and went into the ditch across the highway.
12:40 a.m., Tofte: Report of a loud party with underage drinkers on Tofte Homestead Road. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
1:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais woman, 49, arrested for DUI.
3:58 a.m., Grand Marais: A log was placed across the road to the state garage with WFO written on the ground. The log was removed.
8:57 a.m., Lutsen: Report of two Hispanic women believed to be Lutsen Mountain employees riding an ATV on the Ski Hill Road and through the construction.
10:14 a.m., Grand Marais: A reported break-in of a Gunflint Trail cabin and missing boat turned out to be a misunderstanding between an employee and the owner.
5:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of reloading dyes, bullets and shot from a gun shop. Under investigation.
11:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy responded to a report of gunshots fired, and found a group camped in the field who said they weren’t shooting. They were asked to quiet down for the night.
