4:02 a.m., Schroeder: Glare ice reported on the highway
from Tofte to Silver Bay. MnDOT notified.
8:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch on Devil
Track Road near County Road 6.
9:32 a.m., Lutsen: Vehicle in the ditch off Caribou Trail
just above Jonvick Creek Road.
10:15 a.m., Grand Portage: Parking complaint from the
lodge.
1:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Call about a sea gull with a lure
and line through its bill on Artist Point.
3:20 p.m., Hovland: Caller said a vehicle pulled out in
front of her at Chicago Bay Marketplace, causing her to
do a 360 into the ditch. The driver did not stop to see if
she was okay, he only slowed down and looked at her.
Tuesday, April 9
4:47 a.m., Grand Marais: An employee set off the burglar
alarm at Holiday.
9:24 a.m., Tofte: Thunder Bay driver cited for no driver’s
license.
10:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Disorderly conduct reported.
2:11 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said snowmobiles are going
around a stone wall and onto private property on Mink
Ranch Road.
5:39 p.m., Hovland: Power problem at the fire hall.
Someone hit a pole and damaged the wires.
Wednesday, April 10
12:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a car parked
in the same spot for a couple months, feet away from the
curb and stop sign.
5:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Child abuse investigation.
Thursday, April 11
8:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Phone scam reported.
12:00 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported at the
casino. A male employee allegedly threw very hot coffee
on a female employee’s face and neck.
6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Debit card fraud reported.
Friday, April 12
7:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Injured deer at mile marker
106.
11:19 a.m., Lutsen: Car slid off the roadway near
Clearview General Store.
1:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a guy walking down
the Gunflint Trail near Elbow Lake with a shotgun
strapped to his back. He waved at the plow truck driver
as he passed.
9:20 a.m., Lutsen: Icy and slippery conditions reported
on the Ski Hill Road. A couple cars were in the ditch.
9:49 a.m., Grand Marais: A yellow Lab wandered into the
East Bay Suites. He is very friendly and just hanging out.
5:36 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy called regarding an
unwanted person at the Community Center.
Saturday, April 13
2:39 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a woman who was
intoxicated just took his car, and then started swearing
at the dispatcher and said forget it, he’ll handle it, and
hung up.
3:59 a.m., Grand Portage: Someone tried to crawl in
through a window, and ran off when the occupant
hollered.
7:59 a.m., Tofte: Caller reported a small deer was
running around her property near Bluefin Bay with a
broken leg.
12:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that the green light at
Broadway was burned out. State patrol notified.
5:57 p.m., Hovland: A motorist said he hit a deer and
shattered his windshield near Spruce Point Road. A tow
truck was needed.
6:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch, intoxicated
driver, near Spruce Creek.
8:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said someone took a
purse from her home.
11:09 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said an unwanted man
keeps trying to come into her house, either through the
window or front door, and appears to be on something.
