Monday, April 1
9:06 a.m., Schroeder: Report of an injured deer on
the north side of the highway, a half-mile south of
Schroeder.
1:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a black and white
cat with really long hair has been coming around
Eighth Avenue West, and wondered if anyone has
reported it missing – it doesn’t look like a stray.
4:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about dangerous
dogs on Brandon Lane.
8:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and injured at
mile marker 113. It crawled off into the ditch.
Tuesday, April 2
10:45 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill
for a 28-year-old woman with a head injury who lost
consciousness.
11:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about an erratic
driver.
12:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assisted a trooper
with a vehicle search.
3:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a deer
tied up to a leash on the upper side of the road by the
old bait shop.
4:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Student had a pair of shoes
and a lock stolen out of a locker at the high school.
6:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a man in his 30s
was skateboarding on his driveway, and also had a TV
in the middle of it. He asked the man to move, but he
refused, and said it was OK to skate there.
6:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle, and
ran off into the woods.
Wednesday, April 3
10:35 a.m., Lutsen: Complaint of a white “Thunder Bay
Feeds” truck following too closely and driving unsafely.
12:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her dog slipped
its collar and ran off.
12:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Injured deer was found in
the caller’s yard. It looked like it had a broken leg and
needs to be shot.
Thursday, April 4
6:50 a.m., Hovland: Injured deer in the middle of the
highway near Naniboujou, it appears back legs are
broken.
8:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her son was
harassed by a group of young boys whom he didn’t
recognize. They pushed him around and slapped his
head, scaring him.
1:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Rapids man cited for
speeding.
3:13 p.m., Grand Portage: An Ontario vehicle backed
up and snagged the gas pump lines at the C-Store,
causing damage to the handles on two pumps.
3:47 p.m., Hovland: Report of motocross bikes racing
up and down the Arrowhead Trail – two bikes with
four guys total.
4:03 p.m., Grand Marais: An abandoned vehicle was
found in the roadway at a stop sign and in front of a
fire hydrant at Eighth Avenue West and West Fifth
Street. The owner was found, and said the vehicle had
overheated and was left there to cool off. It started right
up and was removed.
5:36 p.m., Lutsen: Caribou Highlands got a call from
a man who said he was stranded on a snowmobile on
the state trail near Barker Lake Road. The man said he
needed some help.
Friday, April 5
1:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais juvenile cited
for underage consumption and possession of a small
amount of marijuana. Another suspect fled on foot.
7:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Officer presence requested at
Harbor Light while the former occupants collect the
rest of their belongings.
8:11 a.m., Tofte: A dead owl was found at the front
door at Aspenwood. The caller was not sure what to do
with it.
1:52 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
37-year-old woman with a leg injury.
4:46 p.m., Grand Portage: A deputy assisted a trooper
with a DWI arrest.
Saturday, April 6
1:24 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said an intoxicated man,
unknown to them, walked into their townhome at
Caribou Highlands and caused a disturbance. There
was a van with lots of people outside. The man was
pushed outside, and now he’s sitting in a snowbank.
9:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle fire at Gunflint Trail-
Fifth Avenue West.
9:38 a.m., Grand Portage: Customs stopped a Canadian
citizen with a small amount (.3 grams) of cocaine.
9:56 a.m., Tofte: Caller said the state snow plow truck
didn’t even slow down at all. He was walking along the
bike trail and could not move out of the way due to a
fence, and was hit with snow and trapped against the
fence. Now he has something in his eye, possibly sand,
and he may have to go see the doctor.
3:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch just south
of Cascade.
5:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an intoxicated
person who may attempt to go back out and drive to a
bar.
Sunday, April 7
2:15 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said he may have a problem,
then hung up.
4:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle rollover on County
Road 45.
11:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Ambulance called to the
casino for an unknown medical problem.
