Monday, March 18

7:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a little owl
on the side of the road near Viking Plumbing. He scooted
it off the roadway.
10:54 a.m., Grand Portage: An unoccupied car was off the
side of Casino Drive, but partly on the driving lane.
11:56 a.m., Grand Marais: A truck driver said there was a
deer offshore, about 100-200 feet out, partially in the water
and partially in ice chunks.
2:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of icy intersections;
Highway Department notified.
3:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about kids in loud
trucks whipping donuts at the Point. The caller said the
kids take laps of town about every five minutes and then
come back downtown and whip more donuts, and people
are starting to get annoyed.
5:16 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said the Ski Hill Road is very
slippery and hard to get up.
Tuesday, March 19

9:09 a.m., Tofte: Deer struck by a vehicle at mile marker 85.
1:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Property damage reported on
11th Avenue West.
4:00 p.m., Grand Portage: A counterfeit $50 bill was
received at the casino.
4:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Widespread power outage
throughout the city.
6:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Harbor View Apartments
reported that not all of the power seems to be back on.
Wednesday, March 20

2:20 a.m., Grand Marais: The driver of a disabled vehicle
at the MnDOT garage was given a ride into town. The dog
was left sleeping in the vehicle for the night; the vehicle will
be dealt with in the morning.
3:41 a.m., Grand Marais: A suspicious man was walking
around, back and forth, near a truck at Benny’s.
9:53 a.m., Grand Marais: A student allegedly told a teacher
he was going to kick his ass. When the teacher confronted
him about it, he said he knows somebody that could. The
principal spoke with a deputy.
11:46 a.m., Grand Marais: A road sign across from GM
Motors was damaged. A leg was broken, flapping in the
wind.
12:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Forest Service was notified
about a possibly unauthorized campsite that was
abandoned, near the Elbow Lake access.
3:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A fishing shack on South
Gunflint Lake was broken into, and all the equipment
stolen.
3:49 p.m., Grand Marais: A school bus driver reported that
a Canadian vehicle sped past the bus when it was dropping
off kids at Bents Road, and almost hit them.
7:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Snowmobile accident in the
Aspen Lodge parking lot.
10:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of prescription
drugs and a Playstation system.
Thursday, March 21

10:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of weird text messages
received.
2:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Someone turned in 60-year-old
.22 bullets at the Law Enforcement Center.
2:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller from the school wanted
to speak with a deputy about a student propositioning
another.
4:12 p.m., Grand Marais: The caretaker at Birchwood
Apartments reported a dying cat left there. The owner has
been in the Cities at least a week for medical reasons.
6:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about an aggressive
black dog on Wahlstrom Road.
8:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Child custody concern.
Friday, March 22

9:47 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said somebody threatened to kill
her over the phone, and she wanted to speak with a deputy
about it.
4:28 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of $35 reported by
the C-Store.
5:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Two men were seen stumbling up
Fourth Avenue West, oblivious to traffic.
Saturday, March 23

12:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Snowmobile accident the
previous night on South Shore Drive-Gunflint snowmobile
trail. No injuries, but property damage reported.
1:26 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle in the ditch at mile marker
73.
1:48 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a registered child
predatory offender staying at Picnic Bay.
Sunday, March 24

12:34 a.m., Grand Portage: A caller from the lodge said
it sounds like a baby crying in the room next door, and it
doesn’t seem like anyone is in there with the baby.
12:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment reported.
3:03 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle was stuck in the Chik-
Wauk museum parking lot. The driver said he thought it
was a plowed road.
4:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Arrest made of a man with two
outstanding warrants – DUI and domestic assault.
