Monday, Sept. 7
12:53 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputies requested for a fight at the marina. The victim declined to press charges.
7:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Safety concerns expressed regarding “For Sale” signs on the Gunflint Trail and Highway 61 that blocked visibility, and also signs near Four Corners. The caller was told to notify the Highway Department.
7:57 a.m., Hovland: Power outage caused by beavers that took down a tree, and it landed on a power line.
8:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $23.78 from Super America.
2:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported a fight between five teenage girls taking place in her home. They just walked in and started swinging, the caller said.
4:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of a small child riding a gokart up and down Brandon Lane and onto County Road 6. A deputy could not locate the child.
5:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that her boyfriend’s mother slapped her, and she will be seeking an OFP. The boyfriend’s father called and said the girl has alcohol and mental issues.
4:44 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy called to help locate a missing 17-year-old son who was gone all night. The son returned on his own.
8:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a drinking party at the pit on Wildwood Lane was unfounded.
Tuesday, Sept. 8
4:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of howling and barking dogs at a kennel on Murmur Creek Road.
10:00 a.m., Grand Portage: A 41-year-old Grand Portage man was arrested as the result of an assault that took place Sept. 5 in the RV park.
11:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of loggers leaving debris all over Devil Track Road.
12:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Person was bitten by a dog near the courthouse.
2:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported that her car was kicked by a man three times, damaging one of the doors.
4:24 p.m., Schroeder: Caller reported a trespasser on his property: a man walking a dog with one or two small children. When the caller asked the man to leave, he became belligerent and told him to go ahead and call the cops, so he did.
4:52 p.m., Hovland: Reported theft from a residence of two ATVs.
Wednesday, Sept. 9
7:21 p.m., Grand Portage: A Canadian man, 51, was arrested at the Port of Entry for possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
8:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that there were cones all over the road near the golf course all the way down to the end of the trail. The Highway Department was placing them as new lines were being sprayed on the road.
8:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious vehicle on Linnell Road.
Thursday, Sept. 10
2:17 a.m., Lutsen: Burglar alarm at Cascade River State Park. The building was found to be secure.
4:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about barking and howling dogs on Murmur Creek Road.
8:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dead wolf or coyote near Haug’s Bend. A deputy was asked to identify it before the game warden was contacted.
10:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of two abandoned bikes and some litter at Passion Pit.
1:30 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested at the border to issue a citation for possession of 3.3 grams of marijuana and two pipes.
3:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that around 3:30 or 4 a.m. every day he wakes up smelling some type of gas he believes is being pumped into his apartment from the tenant upstairs. Health & Human Services was notified.
4:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at the American Legion because two parties were refused service, and are refusing to leave.
5:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Rec Park reported that the owners of a Canadian motor coach used the dump station without paying the $5 fee.
Friday, Sept. 11
1:57 a.m., Grand Marais: An Eveleth man, 25, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
6:57 a.m., Grand Marais: The Highway Department requested patrols in the 35 mph zone near Hedstrom’s Mill because vehicles are not slowing down.
11:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an electrical fire odor outside Great Expectations School. The sheriff checked and determined the odor to be coming from the neighbor.
1:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked that a deputy talk with the driver of a pickup truck with loud pipes who drives down Third Avenue every day.
1:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported an unreported vehicle accident with injury Tuesday night.
5:03 p.m., Grand Portage: Arrowhead Transit reported that a 6-yearold kindergarten student did not show up for the bus home.
5:56 p.m., Grand Portage: Ambulance requested for a man in his 20s who cut off the tip of his finger. No transport was necessary.
Saturday, Sept. 12
2:35 a.m., Tofte: Report of a suspicious vehicle at AmericInn. The caller said the occupants dumped garbage into their Dumpster, and then went over to Holiday and dragged some shelving from behind the store and probably stole it.
3:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint near the Blue Moose.
12:37 p.m., Tofte: Ambulance requested for a 19-year-old woman who fell and hit her head during a foot race on the Superior Hiking Trail. A 46-year-old woman was also taken from the race to the hospital with a broken ankle, and First Responders checked on another injured racer but found he finished the race okay.
4:21 p.m., Grand Marais: No-injury accident at mile marker 112 involving a large truck and van.
6:32 p.m., Tofte: Forest Service requested at a Sawbill campsite after two men who were camping there wouldn’t register or pay, and drove away leaving behind a very large fire (approximately 3 feet wide).
9:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a very loud rattle in the ACA’s ceiling exhaust fan. The facility director said it would be checked.
Sunday, Sept. 13
9:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a break-in sometime during the night at the Norwester Lodge gift shop.
11:16 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a man dressed in camo walking along the highway about a half-mile west of the border carrying a gun.
