Monday, Nov. 12
5:16 a.m., Grand Marais: A school bus driver was trying
unsuccessfully to reach Cook County dispatch on a handheld scanner.
9:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $63.50 from
Holiday.
9:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man hunting right off
the highway near Rock Cut.
6:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and injured near
Thomsonite Beach.
8:54 p.m., Lutsen: Suspect arrested for DUI, possession of
drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.
Tuesday, Nov. 13
1:44 a.m., Grand Marais: A man was sleeping in a vehicle in
the American Legion parking lot.
5:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost great Dane,
“Bailey.”
6:47 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said kids (4 years old and 16
months old) got into some antifreeze, and he doesn’t know if
they drank any of it but they had it on them.
7:11 p.m., Tofte: Harassing text messages reported.
7:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Two suspicious people wearing
dark sweatshirts and hoods were seen walking around the
school.
Wednesday, Nov. 14
12:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a black cat has been
coming around every day and night on Eighth Avenue West
for months and was wondering if anybody was missing it.
2:40 p.m., Grand Marais: A black and white spaniel was
found on Fifth Avenue West/West First Street.
Thursday, Nov. 15
7:52 a.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle slid into the ditch near
Rock Cut due to slippery roads.
8:38 a.m., Grand Marais: A white three-legged husky was
running loose on East Third Street.
2:24 p.m., Grand Marais: A black cat was seen in a yard on
West Fifth Street. It had a dark-colored harness on.
8:37 p.m., Grand Marais: A Grand Marais man was cited for
open bottle and careless driving.
8:42 p.m., Grand Portage: A Grand Portage woman was cited
for speeding.
9:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked to have an unwanted
person removed from her home.
Friday, Nov. 16
2:15 p.m., Grand Marais: An unwanted person was at the Pie
Place.
3:36 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of an intoxicated driver
going around with her daughter in the car.
7:05 p.m., Grand Marais: A car went into the ditch between
mile markers 96 and 97.
10:10 p.m., Lutsen: A car flipped over near Mogul’s Grille.
Nobody was inside when it was discovered.
Saturday, Nov. 17
4:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Motion detector alarm going off at
Cascade River State Park.
8:21 a.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle was on its side off the
Gunflint Trail, due to black ice.
Sunday, Nov. 18
12:10 a.m., Grand Portage: Grand Marais man arrested
by Customs for fifth-degree possession of a controlled
substance.
8:53 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said he sees what appears to
be someone in the lake near Hollow Rock holding an orange
flag. On closer inspection with binoculars, it was a buoy, not
a person.
10:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing and vandalism
complaints about hunters on private property.
1:10 p.m., Grand Portage: Phone harassment reported.
11:02 p.m., Grand Marais: A person was hiding in the trees
at the Community Center.
