Monday, Oct. 8
12:59 a.m., and 4:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
parked trucks with their engines running near Mangy Moose.
11:15 a.m., Hovland: Reported theft, for the third time, of
Obama yard signs.
2:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment reported.
7:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone is using
fraudulent handicapped parking stickers. He is parked at
Birchwood Apartments now.
7:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Destruction of property investigation.
Tuesday, Oct. 9
5:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck near mile marker 101,
unknown if it is dead.
10:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the back window of his
vehicle was shot out with a .22 or high-powered BB gun as he
was driving down the Lima Grade.
11:39 a.m., Grand Marais: A pick-up camper on the Gunflint
Trail was found to have several bullet holes in it.
7:42 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle roll-over near Satellite’s.
Wednesday, Oct. 10
4:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his vehicle flipped while he
was driving down the Gunflint Trail, and he woke up and found
a ride down. He believes it is still on fire.
4:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Alarms going off at Harbor Light.
7:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle accident with injuries at
South Shore Drive-Devil Track Road.
9:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a baby bear walking across
the deck on the Shoreline Motel, walking toward the Coast
Guard station.
10:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said dogs were harassing her.
12:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Break-in of a storage unit reported. A
bike was taken apart, and tools were missing.
4:12 p.m., Schroeder: Deer struck by a vehicle and flopping
around in the middle of the highway.
6:32 p.m., Tofte: Report that a possibly drunk man was broken
down in the middle of Pancore Lake Road.
Thursday, Oct. 11
12:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about an idling truck
across the highway from the Mangy Moose.
9:18 a.m., Grand Portage: Trespass notice issued.
9:28 a.m., Grand Marais: An unknown vehicle was parked on
the Chippewa City church property for several days.
10:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that some type of oily
substance was dumped on the highway from just east of town to
Cascade River, only in the westbound lane.
12:27 p.m., Grand Marais: A husky was running around near
the school.
4:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Request from Scott County to check
on a possibly suicidal woman who was believed to be in the
area.
Friday, Oct. 12
8:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost camera.
8:26 a.m., Grand Marais: A loose yellow lab was at the Best
Western.
12:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of 30-40 missing
hydrocodone pills.
5:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost watch on the Superior
Hiking Trail.
6:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he told his daughter she
had to stay home, but she left anyway. He wanted a deputy to
help get her home.
6:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his car was parked near the
airport, and he thinks somebody was messing with it. Things
were moved around, stuff was out of place, and odd things were
happening.
Saturday, Oct. 13
7:19 a.m., Tofte: Deer struck on the highway, about 20 miles
south of town. The deer was dead, and the vehicle sustained
severe damage.
7:59 a.m., Grand Portage: Harassment reported.
10:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Overdue motorcyclist reported at
Trail Center. The biker got separated from a group that was
coming over County Road 60 to 14, then left on Trout Lake
Road and back to the Gunflint Trail. Two of the riders went out
to retrace the route.
11:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he ordered a computer
monitor and never got it; UPS said it was delivered. The caller
wanted to make a report.
2:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was following someone
who was texting while driving.
2:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of sheet rock in the roadway
near Tire & Auto Lodge.
4:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about somebody setting
off fireworks at the Pike Lake gravel pit. There was no one there
when a deputy drove by.
11:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man arrested for DWI.
Sunday, Oct. 14
10:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to know if a trailer that
had been unhooked from a semi and parked along the highway
was illegal. It is not illegal, but State Patrol was notified to
determine if it was there too long.
12:59 p.m., Tofte: A baby bear cub was walking around Surfside
Resort. There was no momma bear in sight.
2:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic assault investigation.
5:19 p.m., Two Harbors: Report of a bunch of yellow insulation
just north of Silver Cliff Tunnel. Lake County was notified.
10:16 p.m., Tofte: Suspicious vehicle investigation at Coho Café.
