Monday, Oct. 1
9:45 a.m., Grand Portage: Harassment reported.
9:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he just heard a huge
explosion on County Road 7, and then the power went out.
10:01 a.m., Hovland: Theft of a blue Obama-Biden yard sign
reported.
12:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost driver’s license and credit cards
reported.
3:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Attempted scam reported.
4:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she lost her red vest on
the biking trail near the Forest Service building.
5:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a spaniel
running around, back and forth on the highway.

Tuesday, Oct. 2
12:07 p.m., Croftville: Complaint about an erratic driver.
12:21 p.m., Grand Portage: Harassment complaint follow-up.
2:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he put a 100-year-old
rocker that belonged to his wife’s family at the end of the
driveway on South Shore Drive about three weeks ago. They
put it there as a political statement signifying the president
is never in his chair. Someone took the chair and left a note
saying “Thanks for the chair, Jeff.”
2:28 p.m., Grand Marais: The Highway Department was
notified of green spray paint on a curve sign on County Road
13.
5:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A set of BMW car keys was found in
a restroom at Cutface.
6:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a car.

Wednesday, Oct. 3
4:21 a.m., Tofte: Burglar alarm at Water’s Edge.
10:21 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller wanted to speak with a
deputy about Facebook and making death threats.
12:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of a wheelbarrow reported.
12:36 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of $93.10 reported.
2:14 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of illegal camping and
unattended fires at the site. State Patrol notified.
2:29 p.m., Hovland: Person shot in the ear by a single pellet
from a shotgun at McFarland Lake helo base.
3:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Residential burglar alarm on Sag
Lake Trail.
4:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run reported.
6:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported.
6:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he found a vehicle on
North Bearskin Road with its windows down and unlocked.
11:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman cited for
speeding.

Thursday, Oct. 4
5:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about three dump trucks
parked across from Mangy Moose with their engines on.
10:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he lost a wedding ring
somewhere in town last week.
1:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost black dog, Charlie,
wearing a purple harness.
2:57 p.m., Grand Marais: A sailboat broke loose and washed
up against the breakwater in the harbor.
3:22 p.m., Lutsen: Report of two brothers in a canoe who were
missing on Brule Lake.
3:51 p.m., Grand Marais: A power line near Evangelical Free
Church broke and a bunch of sparks went flying.
11:28 p.m., Tofte: Caller said a local guy who was intoxicated
just left Bluefin Grill, turned up the Sawbill Trail and went into
the ditch but was able to drive out.
11:58 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic assault reported at the
lodge.

Friday, Oct. 5
10:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch off Pine
Mountain Road had to be towed out.
1:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to be at the school
board meeting for security.
7:25 p.m., Grand Portage: Canadian man stopped at the
border with a small bag of marijuana and paraphernalia.
11:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Blaine man cited for speeding.

Saturday, Oct. 6
7:23 a.m., Grand Portage: Canadian woman with a marijuana
pipe was stopped by Customs.
8:06 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his brother-in-law is
parked in the driveway and probably sleeping after drinking
all night.
9:27 a.m., Grand Portage: Canadian man stopped by Customs
with 5 grams of marijuana.
12:02 p.m., Grand Portage: Canadian man stopped by
Customs with a brass knuckles-knife combination.
12:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported the theft of a bag of
money ($30 in quarters) from the Laundromat.
1:25 p.m., Schroeder: Schroeder man arrested for fifth-degree
possession of a controlled substance.
1:27 p.m., Hovland: Grand Portage resident cited for driving
after suspension.
6:40 p.m., Hovland: Trespassing complaint.

Sunday, Oct. 7
3:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Harassing texts received.
12:14 p.m., Hovland: A man fell about 8 feet from a ladder on
Moose Valley Road.
12:43 p.m., Tofte: Some canoers reported a capsized canoe and
two bodies stuck in the rock along the shore of Alton Lake.
1:57 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $34.50 from Holiday.
2:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A golden retriever, Sophie, was
reported missing.
3:57 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $56.45 from Holiday.
11:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay driver cited for
speeding.
