Monday, Sept. 24
12:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he could see a huge orange
glow, possibly a fire, south of Windigo. The Forest Service was
notified.
1:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle on the
highway.
2:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone took the green
street signs for Lima Grade and Gunflint Trail. The post was still
there.
6:12 a.m., Hovland: Report of a vehicle with no plates parked on
the corner of Camp 20 and Flute Reed roads.
9:31 a.m., Grand Marais: A sailboat broke loose from its mooring
in the harbor and washed up on the beach near Trading Post.
10:45 a.m., Grand Portage: Deer struck by a vehicle near the
Trading Post.
12:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a vehicle speeding
away from the Point.
12:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
1:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller lost a diamond pendant near
Holiday.
2:45 p.m., Schroeder: Report of an Arrowhead bus swerving all
over the road near mile marker 65.
4:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of broken glass in the
intersection of the highway and Broadway.
Tuesday, Sept. 25
6:50 a.m., Tofte: Deer struck by a vehicle near Cliff Dweller.
6:57 a.m., Lutsen: Report of people shooting geese on the fairway
at the golf course. There were three people driving a golf cart.
2:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Canadian woman cited for speeding.
3:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a big black dog with long
hair tried to kill his cat, and wanted to know if he can take a
10-gauge shotgun and kill the dog since it’s on his property.
5:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of assorted debris and litter at
the site of a fire earlier in the month on County Road 6.
Wednesday, Sept. 26
9:21 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of missing prescription meds.
10:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost tripod on Artist Point.
12:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about someone burning
brush in his yard on Seventh Avenue West.
7:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed by a vehicle on
County Road 6.
11:26 p.m., Tofte: Lutsen minor cited for underage drinking.
Thursday, Sept. 27
11:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about children smoking in
the woods behind a property near the hospital.
1:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of glass all over the highway
near Superior Lumber.
2:45 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a person driving dangerously.
6:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment complaint.
7:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a fire in a Dumpster behind
Beth’s Fudge.
Friday, Sept. 28
6:52 a.m., Hovland: Caller was concerned about a dog that is
lying at the top of Ongstad Road at the highway every morning,
and asked that a deputy speak with the owner.
10:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle accident on the highway
near Superior Lumber. There were no injuries reported.
4:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a pick-up truck with drugs
will be leaving Duluth shortly, and the driver has no license.
5:37 p.m., Grand Marais: A cat that was wandering around the
Law Enforcement Center and Great Expectations school was
taken to the pound.
7:32 p.m., Tofte: A caller from Bluefin said, “Oops, wrong
number,” and then hung up.
8:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost wallet.
10:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his heat was not coming on.
10:43 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a deputy just drove by and
shined a light in the window, and he’s wondering why?
11:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Hillman man cited for hit-and-run
property damage at the Rec Park.
Saturday, Sept. 29
9:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about a pelican
that was walking around on the beach, and didn’t seem to be
afraid of people. It might be hurt or sick.
10:19 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said two of her neighbor’s cows
were in her yard, and she can’t scare them away.
1:02 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a helo going back and forth
over town for the last 15 minutes. The caller wanted to know who
it was.
1:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about children
who were smoking and drinking beer, and having fires in an area
off Fifth Avenue West. The area is scattered with beer cans and
cigarette butts, and is a terrible fire hazard. The kids’ mother said
she wouldn’t let them smoke back there any more.
3:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a person walking around
Birchwood Apartments wearing a T-shirt and nothing on the
bottom. The caller spoke with her, and she said she was fine with
being dressed like that. She seemed to be high on something.
11:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loose husky-type dog near
Super America.
Sunday, Sept. 30
12:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to Birch Terrace for a
domestic situation.
12:48 a.m., Grand Marais: A person was seen crouched down
behind a house and having a cigarette.
3:11 a.m., Grand Portage: A female Canadian was stopped at the
border with drug paraphernalia.
11:56 a.m., Grand Portage: Harassment reported.
12:29 p.m., Lutsen: A bicycle went off the road and into some
trees near Caribou Highlands. The rider was conscious and
breathing.
1:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Investigation of threats made.
5:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she went to pick up her son
and friend at the skate park, and they are not there.
8:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay driver cited for passing on
the right.
11:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about her
neighbor’s coughing and talking to herself, and requested a
welfare check.
