Monday, Sept. 17
12:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Probation violation. The suspect
was seen dumping out a vial of urine when he was being
searched for testing.
1:53 p.m., Grand Marais: A car with Grand Portage plates was
seen driving fast through the Rec park. The driver had been
warned the day before.
7:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about a man
walking on the highway toward Lutsen because it was getting
dark, and it was hard to see him.
Tuesday, Sept. 18
9:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a concrete truck all
over the road headed toward Grand Marais.
11:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there were two dogs tied
to each other with a wire near Almost Home, in the middle of
the road. There was an Alaska number on the tags.
11:19 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a window broken out of
a building, and a shotgun shell near the building.
1:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal dumping at the MnDOT
garage.
3:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Phone scam reported.
5:13 p.m., Schroeder: Medical assistance for a woman with a
possibly broken ankle about 2 miles in at Temperance River
State Park.
Wednesday, Sept. 19
3:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about semi trucks
running their motors while parked near First Avenue East.
7:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Logging truck stuck in the ditch on
Devil Track Road.
10:27 a.m., Tofte: Violation of harassment restraining order.
10:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of threats being made in the
courtroom. A deputy spoke with the people involved.
3:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a driver going very fast at
Broadway and Wisconsin.
5:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
5:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a husky wearing a blue
collar running down the Gunflint Trail near the water tower.
Thursday, Sept. 20
9:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Possible suicide message left on a
courthouse answering machine at 3 a.m.
11:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of smoke in the area of
County Road 7, just west of County Road 48.
11:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of stolen checks which were
then written for over $2,000.
3:28 p.m., Grand Portage: Criminal sexual conduct
investigation.
8:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a student who
often hot rods around the high school when there are students
around.
Friday, Sept. 21
9:09 a.m., Grand Marais: A yellow lab that was running
around the Rec Park was caught and tied up at the office.
10:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious activity reported at
Birchwood Apartments.
4:03 p.m., Grand Marais: School bus stop arm violation
reported.
5:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Fender-bender reported in the
Forest Service parking lot.
5:32 p.m., Grand Marais: A set of Kia car keys was found in
front of Sven’s.
5:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Request to check on an overdue
Cessna four-passenger plane.
5:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Welfare check requested on a young
child, whose mother was reportedly shooting up heroin.
Saturday, Sept. 22
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
8:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a horse in her
front yard. The owner is not answering her phone.
10:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked that a deputy remove
some unwanted persons from her property.
10:29 a.m., Croftville: Caller said there was something,
possibly metal, sticking out of the water near the cabins.
10:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a coyote-like dog,
all different colors, appeared to be malnourished and was
walking around on Third Avenue East. The dog was also
wearing a choke collar that was very tight.
11:03 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a four-wheeler accident
off Store Road.
12:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone shot a moose
on the Lima Grade just south of Lima Mountain Road. He
spoke with a game warden who said that it is moose season
for the Fond du Lac reservation.
7:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost purse reported.
7:55 p.m., Grand Marais: California man cited for speeding
and failure to apply for a Minnesota driver’s license within 60
days.
9:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about an idling truck in
the Super America lot.
Sunday, Sept. 23
9:38 a.m., Schroeder: Deer struck by a vehicle at mile marker
74.
10:41 a.m., Grand Marais: A copper-colored lab was reported
missing on County Road 7 since 7 a.m. His name is Copper.
11:55 a.m., Hovland: Grand Portage woman cited for driving
after revocation.
1:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a man with shaved
reddish hair, dressed in camo, has a side arm and bow and
arrow and is staring at people on the trail in Cascade River
State Park.
2:01 p.m., Grand Portage: Complaint about a neighbor
screaming at her kids.
4:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $100.07 from
Holiday.
10:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Gunshot heard near the Law
Enforcement Center.
