Sunday, Sept. 9
8:56 a.m., Grand Marais: A yellow lab was
running loose near Sydney’s.
9:53 a.m., Schroeder: A residential burglar
alarm was set off, and a guy was there with
an improper pass code. He said he was a
plumbing contractor.
11:35 a.m., Grand Marais: A caller from the
NAPA Laundromat said a machine went crazy
and made a mess, and there are no contact
numbers posted.
11:41 a.m., Tofte: A deer was hit by a vehicle
at mile marker 84.
3:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a guy
who was suspended was driving around the
Sawbill Trail area. He reportedly drinks quite
a bit, has an open bottle in the vehicle and
carries a loaded pistol at all times.
3:43 p.m., Grand Portage: Some type of
skeleton was found at Mineral Center. It has
a rib cage like a human. The caller wanted to
speak with a deputy.
4:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
speeding and reckless Canadian drivers. The
caller said a deputy should be near Grand
Portage monitoring their speed.
Monday, Sept. 10
12:06 p.m., Grand Portage: Ambulance called
to the marina after a man who was carrying a
fillet knife dropped it, cutting his ankle.
12:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a
vehicle about six miles east of town.
1:41 p.m., Grand Marais: An illegal
smoldering campfire was discovered off Bally
Creek Road. There was garbage and wire in
the fire.
2:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost
billfold somewhere in town.
3:29 p.m., Schroeder: A laptop was found in
the parking lot, and brought in to the post
office.
6:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a gas grill
on fire on Old Shore Road, near a garage.
Tuesday, Sept. 11
6:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he lost a
T-shirt at the Laundromat or Artist Point, and
there was about $200 cash in the pocket.
7:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Domestic reported.
Wednesday, Sept. 12
8:38 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm from Bluefin.
12:13 p.m., Lutsen: A vehicle was struck by
another driven by an elderly man in the Great
Gifts lot.
3:49 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy was
requested to be at the planning & zoning
meeting due to the possibility of a belligerent
person being in attendance. Threats had been
made.
6:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a
cell phone and girls’ under clothing from the
locker room at the high school.
7:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of
wood and a lawn chair from the Rec Park.
Thursday, Sept. 13
10:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Citation issued for
speeding and no proof of insurance.
11:08 a.m., Tofte: Complaint about a vehicle
with a loud exhaust driving up and down
Tofte Homestead Drive.
12:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost men’s bracelet
reported.
12:13 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a person
driving around without a license.
4:22 p.m., Schroeder: Gunshots reported on
Cliff Cove Road.
5:10 p.m., Schroeder: School bus stop arm
violation reported.
11:14 p.m., Grand Marais: West Virginia man
cited for open bottle.
Friday, Sept. 14
4:34 a.m., Grand Portage: Shots heard on
Blaze’s Road.
7:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost purse reported.
8:10 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said he hit
a bear on his way to work this morning. He
stopped, but there was no sign of blood or
bear. He said a family of four ran out in front
of his vehicle, and he hit the second one. The
only damage to the vehicle was a bent license
plate.
11:44 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported
that the windows were shot out of a small blue
farm tractor sometime overnight.
1:50 p.m., Grand Marais: A lost beagle with a
long leash (30 feet) was missing.
2:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost
wallet.
4:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was
driving a motorcycle on the highway when
someone threw apples and struck him, near
Seventh Avenue West. He went back to look
for the person, but was unable to find him.
4:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off from
SA.
6:26 p.m., Grand Marais: The burglar alarm at
a downtown business was set off by a helium
balloon.
Saturday, Sept. 15
12:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a small
dog running on the highway in front of
Buck’s.
1:37 a.m., Schroeder: A vehicle was pulled
over, and a bunch of people ran from the car.
7:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller was
concerned that people were waiting for her to
be gone so they could rob the residence.
8:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
1:58 p.m., Grand Marais: A lost hunter was
located on Devil Point Road.
2:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of someone
burning garbage on a Forest Service road off
County Road 6.
3:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dozen
brown and white cows walking in a pit toward
the highway just off Lindskog Road.
6:48 p.m., Grand Marais: An awfully timid
German shepherd was seen crossing the
highway near Aspen Inn.
Sunday, Sept. 16
12:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run at
Birch Terrace.
6:22 a.m., Schroeder: Vehicle in the ditch at
mile marker 76.
9:57 p.m., Grand Portage: Deer struck near
Ryden’s.
