Sunday, Sept. 2
4:02 a.m., Grand Portage: A vehicle with expired tabs was stopped
by Customs.
7:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a large pit bull boxer was
running around the Rec Park earlier this morning, and is now
near Drury Lane book store.
8:34 a.m., Grand Marais: A golden retriever was wandering
around the Rec Park near the pavilion. A camper caught it and
put it on a leash.
11:43 a.m., Tofte: Reported theft of 20 gallons of hydraulic oil
from a tractor that was at the Carlton Peak gravel pit.
11:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported smell of smoke all day near
Gunflint Lake. It was believed to be from a pretty big fire up on
Basswood Lake in Canada.
2:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Coast Guard notified of a disabled boat
off Terrace Point.
3:13 p.m., Hovland: Complaint about several cars parked on the
shoulder near the bridge at Magney Park.
4:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Accident with injuries in front of
Norwester Lodge.
5:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said another vehicle passed her
while she was stopped at the crosswalk at Dockside.
5:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a missing black-and-white cat
in the vicinity of West Second Street.
8:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Dead cat in the middle of the highway.
9:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious vehicle at
Birchwood Apartments, possibly drug-related.
Monday, Sept. 3
8:36 a.m., Grand Portage: Several complaints about a fourwheeler at the marina all night long.
2:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about the welfare
of a small dog barking in a hot Jeep parked behind the Harbor
Inn. The windows were cracked, but probably only an inch or less.
2:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of electronic items from
the office at Gateway Lodge.
3:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of someone dumping garbage
(furniture and old recliners) off the Meridian Road.
3:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about a dog left in
a car parked at Harbor Inn.
Tuesday, Sept. 4
7:47 a.m., Grand Marais: A man was outside, near Great
Expectation school, yelling and screaming profanity.
9:12 a.m., Grand Marais: The Coast Guard reported that the
station in town was closed for the season.
10:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Two belligerent men threw garbage in
a Dumpster at City Hall. When asked what they were doing, they
just grunted and left in a large red pick-up.
11:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglary reported on South Shore
Drive. Two old muzzleloaders were missing.
12:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man cited for speeding.
1:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment investigation.
3:01 p.m., Grand Marais: A golden retriever that was running
loose around Cobblestone Cove was picked up.
5:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off from SA.
6:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a tree blocking the
southbound lane of East Bearskin Road.
8:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outages reported at the Rec Park.
Some sites were working, but others were not.
9:04 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with the driver of a
go-kart that had insufficient lighting.
Wednesday, Sept. 5
9:59 a.m., Grand Portage: A fire alarm was received from the
C-store. They were doing testing.
10:12 a.m., Grand Marais: A large white dog was wandering
around on the Croftville Road.
3:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Criminal sexual conduct investigation.
7:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the driver of a vehicle
deliberately swerved at him in his own driveway.
Thursday, Sept. 6
3:18 a.m., Grand Portage: A suspicious vehicle with no plates was
parked at the C-store since midnight.
10:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint. The caller said
the dog was inside, but barking all day.
11:32 a.m., Grand Marais: A woman fell off a balcony. An
ambulance was sent.
12:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large metal door in the
westbound lane of the highway.
1:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said another vehicle came down
Mile Creek Road in the wrong lane and almost hit her on the
stone bridge.
1:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Scooters that were parked at the donut
shop were hit and knocked over.
4:55 p.m., Schroeder: School bus stop arm violation reported. A
child on crutches was present on the roadway.
7:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a heck of a party
going on on Sixth Avenue West. There was drag racing up and
down the street, and 10-11 vehicles at the residence for at least a
couple hours.
Friday, Sept. 7
12:50 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said his wife came home drunk,
they got into an argument, and now she is trying to take their
child and walk to a hotel.
9:57 a.m., Grand Portage: Deer struck and killed near Ryden’s
Store.
10:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a large green pick-up ran
the stoplight.
4:28 p.m., Grand Portage: A couple of elderly women ran into the
building at Ryden’s Store, causing a couple thousand dollars in
damage to the building.
5:32 p.m., Lutsen: A small bear was struck by a vehicle at mile
marker 93.
5:48 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle was seen going 70 mph past
Trail Center.
Saturday, Sept. 8
11:29 a.m., Hovland: Theft of a lawn sign reported.
12:07 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a lost camera.
7:29 p.m., Grand Portage: All people were removed from the
community center after a gas leak was discovered.
10:18 p.m., Thunder Bay man cited for speeding.
