Monday, Aug. 27
10:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Two dogs took off from a Fall River
Road residence. The owner was out looking for them.
11:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of possible tampering with a
mailbox at Birchwood Apartments.
3:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her kids were exposed to
porn.
Tuesday, Aug. 28
6:51 a.m., Grand Marais: A yellow lab was hanging around
Holiday.
9:32 a.m., Schroeder: Smoke was coming from two coal piles at
Minnesota Power, but no flames were visible.
9:42 a.m., Grand Marais: A Grand Portage woman was arrested
at Artist Point for fifth-degree drug possession of meth and
paraphernalia.
9:47 a.m., Grand Portage: A Grand Portage man was arrested for
fifth-degree domestic assault.
10:43 a.m., Grand Marais: A little gray dog wearing a purple
harness, named Lucky, was reported lost.
11:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a dog has been inside a
parked minivan for the last hour and seems distressed.
3:06 p.m., Grand Marais: A report of smoke in the area of Birch
Lake Road was investigated, and it was found that someone was
burning without a permit.
3:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
4:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite reported.
6:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he just saw a truck with a
boat trailer drive in to Security State Bank’s lot and run over their
no parking sign.
6:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a dog came after her on
West Third Street.
8:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was out looking at the
stars and saw what looked like space junk or burning wreckage
fall out of the sky. He wanted to report it in case it turns into
anything interesting.
Wednesday, Aug. 29
1:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Car-deer accident near the MnDOT
garage.
5:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller saw a person take a plant from
outside of Buck’s, put it in her car and drive off.
11:39 p.m., Lutsen: Complaint about a traffic problem with
trucks hauling coming over the hill on Caribou Trail.
Thursday, Aug. 30
1:27 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said his ex-girlfriend came into
his house and he did not want her there.
7:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a white pick-up
repeatedly driving through the neighborhood on West First
Street at 45-50 mph.
10:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Smoke reported on Pike Lake Road,
and also in the area of County Road 7 and 44.
4:41 p.m., Grand Marais: A .22-caliber clip with live shells was
found on County Road 7 in front of Sawtooth Ridges and turned
in to a deputy.
6:55 p.m., Tofte: Caller said someone stole the fuel pump out of
his truck.
11:04 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy assisted State Patrol with a
DWI arrest.
Friday, Aug. 31
3:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller had a young female dog at his
house. The owner was contacted.
6:19 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said a bear was just hit by a semi on the
highway near Clearview and was still alive but in bad shape. Its
face was smashed in, and it went into the ditch.
8:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Child custody issue. The caller said he
woke up this morning and his son was gone.
10:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a fresh moose kill near Iron
Lake campground.
11:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a woman was standing out
in front on My Sister’s Place with a sign, and she would like the
person removed.
12:15 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of an abandoned vehicle in
the Heritage Center parking lot.
1:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a barking dog, possibly in
distress, in a gold pick-up truck across from The Market.
1:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she knew about underage
drinking parties going on at her ex’s house and wanted to speak
with a deputy about it.
2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: A cell phone was found on the bench at
the Legion.
2:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A small island on the northwest corner
of Greenwood Lake was on fire.
4:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Bike accident across from Blue Moose
with unknown injuries.
5:23 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $36.66 from Holiday.
5:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he stopped at the credit
union and dropped his credit card, and now there are several
online charges, over $900.
5:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two young boys headed up
the Gunflint Trail.
10:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint.
11:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud noise complaint about music
coming from the GunFlint Tavern.
Saturday, Sept. 1
12:18 a.m., Grand Marais: A caller from the campground said
there are people right outside his camper who are being loud,
and he believes it’s because the loud music from the tavern has
them all riled up.
3:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from Gateway Lodge reported
loud music, and didn’t know where it was coming from.
10:16 a.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $36.35 from Holiday.
11:12 a.m., Grand Marais: A cat that was very emaciated was
seen behind Gene’s Foods.
2:29 p.m., Grand Marais: 911 lines were not working.
3:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint. A car with Illinois
plates was parked and blocking the alley next to Sven & Ole’s.
6:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her husband was stung by
lots of bees, and they were heading to the hospital.
8:09 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a group camped on Barker Lake
Road and skinning a deer.
11:04 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said an intoxicated person
came to her residence, pounded on the door and drove away.
11:07 p.m., Grand Marais: More problems with the 911 lines.
