Monday, Aug. 20
9:11 a.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was found at the
Laundromat.
4:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a vehicle pulled up
behind him and is touching his bumper.
9:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a yellow lab followed her
home on Third Avenue East.
Tuesday, Aug. 21
12:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted some information
on how to scare a bear away from his cabin.
8:30 a.m., Hovland: An accident was reported on the North
Road.
8:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about dirt bikes racing
on Pike Lake Road.
3:26 p.m., Grand Marais: A green pill box was found at Lake
Superior Trading Post.
4:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of license tabs stolen off a
vehicle on the Gunflint Trail.
5:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a purse containing
cash, credit cards and ID.
6:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a cat with a collar came
up to him in the high school parking lot.
Wednesday, Aug. 22
12:05 a.m., Grand Marais: A German shorthair took off from
Best Western. It was a female, about 13 years old, and blind in
one eye. “Keck” is her name.
10:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Identity theft reported.
12:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost prescription sunglasses on the
Pincushion Hiking Trail.
7:01 p.m., Grand Portage: Two Canadians were stopped at the
border with pills that tested positive for Ecstasy.
9:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about the loud music
from Gunflint Tavern.
Thursday, Aug. 23
8:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a helicopter
flying along the lake last night and again this morning, and
was wondering what was going on.
11:01 a.m., Grand Marais: A woman was caught dumping
garbage at the Flour Lake Campground and told to pay the
dumping fee. The next time, they will get a ticket.
2:07 p.m., Lutsen: Complaint about kids using abusive
language and possibly hitting some younger kids at Lutsen
Mountains.
2:12 p.m., Grand Portage: Criminal sexual conduct
investigation.
10:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A guest was unable to get into his
room at Gateway Lodge because the key did not work and
nobody on the staff was around to help.
10:43 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported.
Friday, Aug. 24
1:25 p.m., Hovland: Unattended campfire on North Road.
1:43 p.m., Grand Marais: A kayak was taken off Stone
Harbor’s rack, brought down by the lakeshore and filled with
rocks and water. The rack was damaged, but not the kayak.
2:28 p.m., Schroeder: Complaint about two ATVs racing up
and down Cramer Road, taking up both lanes.
5:25 p.m., Grand Marais: A squad car was sideswiped by
another vehicle near the LEC.
8:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near the
Cascade Park campground.
Saturday, Aug. 25
1:38 a.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported in the lodge lobby.
10:50 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said kids have been messing
with his boat, and asked that a deputy check the area.
12:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Brainerd woman cited for stop sign
violation.
8:56 p.m., Schroeder: Complaint about fireworks being shot
off on Cramer Road.
Sunday, Aug. 26
3:41 a.m., Tofte: Alarm set off at Holiday.
8:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loose black husky on
First Avenue West.
12:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an exotic sports car
parked at Holiday for two days.
12:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her neighbor’s yellow
lab was in her yard growling and barking at her for 10
minutes, blocking her from the house entry. It has happened
before, but never this bad.
12:55 p.m., Grand Marais: A panting dog was in a parked car
at Artist Point.
1:17 p.m., Grand Marais: A woman’s 10-speed bicycle was
reported stolen from IGA employee housing.
4:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he witnessed a man
hitting a 6-year-old boy at Artist Point.
8:38 p.m., Grand Marais: A couple guys were seen on the
houseboat in the harbor, and it appears it isn’t theirs. They
were looking into the windows and pulling on the doors. The
Coast Guard went to check on the situation.
