Saturday, Aug. 11
6:40 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a man with a warrant on
him was at her residence, and she doesn’t want him there any
more.
11:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Bear problem at Golden Eagle
Lodge. Game warden notified.
1:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal dumping reported on Old
Shore Road.
1:40 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her ex-boyfriend took
the plates off her Jeep, and she wants them back.
3:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her purse was on the
floor near her seat at the bar at Trail Center, and now her
wallet and checkbook are missing.
11:05 p.m., Grand Marais: DUI arrest.
Sunday, Aug. 12
2:04 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of drinkers on the pow-wow
grounds.
10:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loose dog running
down the Trail in traffic. Animal Advocates notified.
11:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $86.90 from SA.
8:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $67.05 from SA.
8:39 p.m., Tofte: Report of smoke on the west side of Sawbill
Trail.
Monday, Aug. 13
3:26 a.m., Lutsen: Grand Portage woman cited for driving
after suspension.
10:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman cited for
inattentive driving.
11:43 a.m., Hovland: Medical assistance requested on Camp
20 Road after an allergic person was stung by bees and was
unconscious.
2:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said an unwanted person just
left her house, and she believes the woman is high on pills and
headed to Duluth.
3:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Trespass and theft reported at the
lodge.
6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: A deer was struck by a rental vehicle
about a mile and a half up the Gunflint Trail.
8:39 p.m., Grand Marais: A deer was struck by a vehicle on
the highway and was believed to be dead, but its legs were still
on the road along with other debris.
9:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A yellow lab was being held in
the caller’s garage after it was seen running around on the
highway. The caller didn’t want it to get hit by a vehicle.
Tuesday, Aug. 14
2:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about semis’ engines
running in the parking lot across from Johnson’s. There were
several in the area.
7:29 a.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of a wallet from a
person at the lodge. There was a suspect.
8:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle with two flat tires
that has been parked in the lot near Stone Harbor for a couple
weeks.
2:08 p.m., Grand Marais: A customer at the pool said he had
some items stolen and wanted to talk to a deputy.
11:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about loud people in a
neighboring tent at the Rec park.
Wednesday, Aug. 15
6:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a natural gas
smell near Cobblestone Cove, and was wondering if she
should be worried about it.
5:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $32.78 from Super
America.
7:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a laptop computer
from a residence. Nothing else was missing.
9:56 p.m., Tofte: Report of a deer down and in the roadway
near Chateau Leveaux.
Thursday, Aug. 16
1:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man arrested for DWI
and test refusal.
5:15 a.m., Schroeder: Fire alarm at Cross River Heritage
Center.
12:54 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle in a deep ditch off the highway.
9:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a bear was trying to
come in the kitchen window. It clawed through the screen and
knocked around some plates and things before being scared
away.
Friday, Aug. 17
1:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about vehicles parked
and trucks idling in the lot across from Mangy Moose.
2:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an assault that happened
in the common room at Harbor View Apartments.
3:02 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said there are two people sitting
on towels on the upper side of the highway near the bridge at
Cross River, and they are in a dangerous place. They had to
scale a fence to get there.
6:14 p.m., Hovland: Complaint about an unattended burn
barrel, and possibly burning of plastics. A deputy was able to
extinguish it before the fire department arrived.
6:48 p.m., Grand Marais: False fire alarm at the care center.
8:24 p.m., Croftville: Complaint about neighbors burning
garbage.
Saturday, Aug. 18
3:01 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $67.51 from Holiday.
4:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of firewood reported.
4:26 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported at the community
center.
6:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a drunk and disorderly
person harassing the shop keeper at Moose Tracks.
7:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle speeding back
and forth on Devil Track Road.
8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an illegal camp site and
fire on Clearwater Road.
Sunday, Aug. 19
5:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said something was wrong
with the power on Cedar Grove Lane. PUC notified.
11:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an erratic driver
northbound on the Gunflint Trail.
