coming from downtown.
12:25 a.m., Grand Portage: Terroristic threats investigation.
2:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said two rods are missing from his
boat at Artist Point.
8:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern about the safety
of a person driving a go-kart down the streets.
5:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Vehicle accident reported near mile
marker 134.
8:35 p.m., Grand Marais: A bear in the campground attacked a
tent at 1 a.m., and has just returned.
10:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a bear at the campground
tipping over garbage cans and going through coolers.
11:44 p.m., Lutsen: Underage kids were drinking in the housing
unit at Lutsen Resort.
11:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about very loud, obnoxious
men out with beer pong tables at the Rec Park.
Sunday, Aug. 5
9:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said the dog he’s had problems
with before is back, and is trying to catch him but he ran in the
bushes.
1:23 p.m., Hovland: Gunshots reported near the Hong Hill area.
3:33 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off from Holiday reported.
6:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Suicide threat investigation.
6:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off from SA reported.
8:39 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said his underage daughter has
been getting explicit text messages and e-mails from a man who
has been convicted as a sex offender in California.
9:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of smoke coming from
somewhere behind Benny’s.
10:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint about Gunflint
Tavern.
10:30 p.m., Grand Marais: The bear from the Rec Park has moved
to the Harbor Light, and has gone through their garbage. They
chased it away, but it was growling and snapping at them.
Monday, Aug. 6
12:03 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said her boyfriend beat her up
and is really strung out on something.
1:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her son lost some CDs he
bought at Fisherman’s Picnic.
1:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Motor vehicle accident on the Trail at
Elbow Lake Access. No injuries reported.
2:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Criminal sexual conduct investigation.
3:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Vandalism at the post office. Someone
spray-painted a smiley face on the retaining wall.
4:32 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a group of guys he didn’t
really know came to his door and asked him for some needles.
8:28 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said she kicked her husband out
of the house and he crawled back in through the window and will
not leave.
Tuesday, Aug. 7
3:16 a.m., Grand Marais: A black bear was seen outside a tent
at the campground. It took a cooler and has been back a couple
times.
7:40 a.m., Croftville: No-injury accident reported. A tow truck was
called.
10:07 a.m., Hovland: A deer was struck on the highway near
Arrowhead Trail.
10:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost credit card and ID reported. Caller
said she had a hole in her back pocket and didn’t know it.
10:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to know where he could
go to site his rifle since the County Road 6 pit was barricaded.
12:43 p.m., Grand Portage: Man was claiming a woman took $250
of his and won’t give it back because she spent it.
1:51 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said a pick-up with three guys pulled up
and had binoculars, and were looking at the buildings. She asked
them if she could help them, and they said no, we got what we
needed, and then took a picture of one of her flowers and left.
2:00 p.m., Hovland: A German shepherd-type dog was found on
the Arrowhead Trail and was being kept at the post office.
3:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said about 1½ cords of birch
firewood valued at $300 was taken from his woodshed, and he
believes it was the neighbor who took it.
3:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone threw Nordic
exercise equipment in the ditch near his property on Fall River
Road.
4:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Stolen carburetor worth $500 reported.
5:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a wedding was planned
for Saturday in Boulder Park, and there were over 150 guests
attending, and she was just wondering about parking and ideas.
10:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a very large bear and cub
all around the campground. The caller went down and found his
belongings in the trees.
10:46 p.m., Grand Marais: False burglar alarm at Johnson’s Foods
set off by the cleaning crews.
Wednesday, Aug. 8
2:57 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a delusional guy crawled in a
window and was inside her house.
4:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she could not contact her
friend after she (friend) went home with a local guy from the Birch
Terrace, and they are supposed to be leaving town at 9 a.m.
Thursday, Aug. 9
9:51 a.m., Grand Marais: An Ecuador ID was found on the
sidewalk in front of Joynes.
4:23 p.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of moccasins.
8:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious man from Canada
in the Trading Post. He was hitting on the girls, and purchased a
necklace and left it there for the girl working with a note that had
the word “fun” underlined. He then ripped out on a motorcycle.
11:02 p.m., Schroeder: Traffic hazard created by a tow truck driver
changing the tire on a vehicle at mile marker 74.
11:15 p.m., Grand Marais: MnDOT notified of a burned-out red
light at the intersection.
Friday, Aug. 10
10:40 a.m., Grand Portage: Structure fire.
6:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A German driver was cited for speeding
and reckless driving after a complaint was made about a vehicle
going 70 mph at Trail Center.
10:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint about Gunflint
Tavern. Under the city ordinance, nothing can be done until
midnight.
11:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she heard a strange huffing
sound in the woods on Devil Track Road, and wondered if deer
made huffing noises if they were hit by a vehicle, or possibly a
bear? A deputy was sent to investigate.
11:48 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a young female pickpocketing in the bar.
