2:35 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a
stolen vehicle.
6:43 a.m., Grand Portage: Harassment
reported.
10:30 a.m., Schroeder: A van was in
the ditch, and two girls were inside. No
injuries.
12:12 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of
a man driving recklessly almost every
day on Bay Estates Drive, possibly
endangering children.
12:21 p.m., Tofte: Report of a missing
memory card from a trail cam that was
placed on Leveaux Ridge.
4:38 p.m., Tofte: Caller said someone
stole their animals. The dog was gone
yesterday and today the cat is gone, and
both had been tied up. They are good
animals. Possibly the neighbors took
them.
5:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about noise from target practice
shooting off Sag Lake Trail.
6:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Tree on fire
and smoldering on the Sweetheart’s
Bluff Hiking Trail.
9:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a deer stranded on a sand bar at the
mouth of the Devil Track River.
Monday, July 23
7:23 a.m., Hovland: Vehicle in the ditch
on Tom Lake Road. The driver said
he went off the road to avoid hitting
another vehicle.
11:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Partially
burned checks were found at Mink
Lake campground and turned in to the
Law Enforcement Center.
12:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported his 79-year-old father took
off from Grand Rapids and may be
hitchhiking to Grand Marais.
1:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
speeding logging trucks on Devil Track
Road.
4:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
lost his electric shaver at the Farmers
Market.
4:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft
of a diamond ring from a resort.
Tuesday, July 24
11:52 a.m., Grand Marais: A mountain
bike that had been left in the Legion
parking lot was brought to the LEC.
12:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported
loss of a bank envelope containing $560
in cash.
3:42 p.m., Grand Portage: Complaint
about ATVs riding in prohibited areas.
4:27 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said her dog
ran down a trail and fell off a ledge on
the river, and can’t get out.
4:59 p.m., Tofte: Complaint about a
7-month-old puppy being left outside
and neglected.
6:57 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy
spoke with people who were
skateboarding down the Gunflint Trail
with a van following with its flashers
on.
7:31 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault
reported.
10:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Underage
drinking reported.
Wednesday, July 25
2:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there was a small terrier-type dog in
her yard chasing a chipmunk.
4:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
requested extra patrols because there
were some prowlers in the area last
night.

5:57 p.m., Grand Portage: A counterfeit
$100 bill was received at the lodge.
11:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Border
Patrol and a sheriff ’s deputy searched
for a suspicious vehicle with Ontario
plates that was seen driving slowly
around town. The vehicle was found
unoccupied at a motel.
Thursday, July 26
1:27 a.m., Grand Portage: Customs
seized 1.5 grams of marijuana from
musicians who took a wrong turn.
8:18 a.m., Lutsen: A semi got stuck in a
driveway that he was not supposed to
go down.
9:59 a.m., Grand Marais: A loose dog
was roaming near the care center.
12:10 p.m., Grand Portage: Fraud
phone calls reported.
5:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
he saw somebody with Grand Portage
plates drive by and dump a pizza box in
his garbage can.
6:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a pit bull running loose near the
dock at the Rec Park.
7:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite
victim brought in to the hospital.
10:11 p.m., Lutsen: Report that a fuel
delivery truck was blocking both lanes
of the highway at Lockport.
Friday, July 27
9:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
she feels that the young girls working
at a local store are frightened because
the man there watches them constantly,
and she just has a really bad feeling.
4:47 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy
spoke with a suspect who yelled
something at one of the jurors at the
courthouse.
6:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
man who appeared to be intoxicated
was digging through a blue plastic
container in his yard, and looking in
cars. He then got in a van and drove
west on First Avenue.
10:22 p.m., Schroeder: A deputy was
called to the state park office after an
elderly couple was harassing the park
ranger.
Saturday, July 28
12:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
she struck an owl, and it’s still stuck in
her grill by its head.
2:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a loud party on Third Street.
7:27 a.m., Grand Marais: An elderly
woman fell at the dock while trying to
get into a boat, injuring her hip.
11:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said his wallet was stolen out of his
unlocked vehicle that was parked on
Wisconsin Street.
11:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
stolen bobcat.
3:21 p.m., Grand Marais: The sheriff ’s
rescue boat was called to Artist Point
after a dragon boat tipped over.
3:57 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a distressed
dog in a parked vehicle at the ski hill
with the windows cracked only slightly.
11:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about the music coming from the
GunFlint Tavern. The caller said it is
way too loud, and if they don’t turn it
down, she will call the owners at home
herself.
Sunday, July 29
3:09 a.m., Grand Portage: Harassment
reported.
8:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
got his campsite and car raided during
the night at Devil Track. His wallet,
cash and other belongings were taken.
2:12 p.m., Grand Portage: The new
babysitter said the old babysitter just
came and took the kids she is watching.
3:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a Winnebago that was camped

overnight in the empty lot across from
Mangy Moose.
4:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off
of $20 from Holiday.
10:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
several trees down on Pine Mountain
Road.
Monday, July 30
1:48 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller asked
for a deputy to remove a drunk person
from her residence.
9:24 a.m., Lutsen: Game warden
contacted to help a deer that had its
head and neck stuck between two steel
fence posts.
2:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
somebody tried to run him over in a
parking lot, then cut him off farther up
the road.
3:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Man stuck
under tractor on Wahlstrom Road.
4:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
lost mother and 13-year-old nephew
who were out picking blueberries.
6:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
someone was driving without a license.
7:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
lost poodle on County Road 7.
8:25 p.m., Grand Marais: A little black
dog with a brown nose was found on
East Third Street.
9:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about large fireworks being shot off
from the area of Gofer Cabins.
Tuesday, July 31
2:11 a.m., Grand Portage: Threats
made.
12:38 p.m., Grand Portage: A deputy
was requested at the lodge to remove
an unwanted guest who was refusing to
check out.
3:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Attempted
burglary at Birch Terrace reported.
4:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called
to check on a dog that was left inside a
car at Artist Point for about 20 minutes.
6:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A $6,000
check that was found and turned in was
taken by a trooper to the credit union
and destroyed.
9:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller
said someone at her house has been
drinking and talking crazy, saying there
are demons inside him.
11:04 p.m., Tofte: Report of people
walking around near the bridge at
Bluefin. The caller said they were
wearing no reflective clothing and
might be struck by a vehicle.
11:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
an employee at Birch Terrace was
threatening her outside the building,
but she (caller) doesn’t know her name.
Wednesday, Aug. 1
12:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Harbor
Light requested extra patrols because a
beer trailer was delivered a day earlier
than expected, and they didn’t want it
tampered with.
10:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
people have been camping on Paradise
Beach for the past three days.
10:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off
by a bunch of motorcycles from SA.
1:27 p.m., Grand Portage: Burglary
reported.
2:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
he came home and it sounds like
somebody is in his house.
3:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
vehicle parked on the grass, rather than
the parking lot area at Artist Point, and
elderly people got out.
4:20 p.m., Grand Marais: A mediumsized skittish dog was running loose in
front of Arrowhead Pharmacy.
4:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
he lost $2,300. He cashed a check at
the bank, then went to Joynes, but was

unable to find the money anywhere
along the way.
5:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
pervert has been stalking them all day
at Paradise Beach.
6:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
a kid just called her son looking for
money for synthetic drugs.
9:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
she believes there is under age drinking
and drug use at a neighboring cabin.
10:44 p.m., Grand Marais: A black
lab puppy was running around on the
highway near Dairy Queen.
11:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Neighbor
problems at Birchwood.
11:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A pick-up
went into the ditch near Bautch
Construction and came back out and
kept heading east.
Thursday, Aug. 2
12:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a
man was drunk at Birch Terrace, and he
isn’t supposed to be drinking.
12:20 a.m., Grand Marais: An
intoxicated guy on a bike was seen
swerving onto the road near the
Laundromat, and crashed into a pole.
He left the bike at the pole.
12:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported problems with a smoke alarm
at her camper at the Rec Park.
1:46 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic
reported.
2:32 a.m., Grand Portage: Loud music
complaint.
4:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Break-in and
theft reported at Buck’s Hardware.
10:20 a.m., Grand Portage: A state park
worker notified law enforcement of a
creepy guy in a maroon pick-up who
was staying in local parks and hiking all
the trails in the area.
10:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
her son’s dog took off.
12:15 p.m., Grand Marais: A deer was
struck on the highway and needed to
be dispatched. There was also a fawn
with her.
1:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
someone went into his fifth wheel that
was parked on the street during the
night, but nothing was taken. He will
be locking it up from now on.
3:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment
reported.
4:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Kids were
jumping against the bank building, and
when spoken to were very rude back.
6:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Three
intoxicated and belligerent men in a
vehicle were at the Rec Park office, and
the staff wanted them removed.
8:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Threats
made by a neighbor. The caller said
the person making the threats appears
to be high, and he’s been on a five-day
meth bender.
Friday, Aug. 3
1:14 a.m., Grand Marais: A drunk
guy was walking up Second Avenue
West, and took off his shirt. Now he’s
hiding under a white truck. A deputy
responded and requested medical
assistance because the guy was passed
out, but no transport was needed.
2:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a naked man sitting in a chair
watching people at Paradise Beach.
9:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Two people
were cited for possession of a small
amount of marijuana and drug
paraphernalia.
9:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
intoxicated woman on Honeymoon
Hill.
11:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music
complaint.
11:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about several people at the skate park
after hours, making noise.
