Monday, July 16
8:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said low-flying planes were heard
over Hungry Jack Lake at about 3 a.m.
9:23 a.m., Tofte: Caller said a neighbor’s puppy was left out again
this morning without water. The owner was spoken to about this
the previous day, but apparently it did no good. A deputy gave
the dog some water in his dish.
12:13 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported.
1:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his daughter set her purse
down on the beach near the Trading Post, and now it’s gone.
4:49 p.m., Schroeder: Assault reported.
6:29 p.m., Lutsen: Mattresses on fire in the ditch across from
Lockport.
6:56 p.m., Grand Marais: A young golden retriever was found
wandering at a South Shore Drive residence.
8:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite on West Rosebush Lane.
8:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a guy on the side of the
highway near Coyote Ridge, yelling and screaming, and wearing
no shirt.
8:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a person hitting golf balls
into the harbor.
10:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint concerning
kids in vehicles near Dairy Queen.
Tuesday, July 17
11:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance sent to the Rec Park after a
man fell off his bicycle and suffered head injuries.
11:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft reported.
3:28 p.m., Hovland: Skidder on fire on the Island View Road.
4:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a brush fire on Timberwolf
Lane getting out of hand.
Wednesday, July 18
10:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Neighbor dispute at Harborview
Apartments.
11:31 a.m., Grand Marais: A golden retriever was wandering
around South Shore Drive.
11:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a stolen bicycle that was left
outside Buck’s.
2:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking hazard reported on the
Gunflint Trail. Blueberry pickers are not pulling far enough off
the road.
Thursday, July 19
12:40 a.m., Tofte: Caller said an elderly woman who looks lost
is wandering around Bluefin Bay’s parking lot, and not making
much sense.
4:32 p.m., Grand Marais: A female caller who sounds very
intoxicated would not give her name, but said there was a very
emotional situation going on, and she just wanted to talk to
someone.
7:44 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a suspicious person who was
walking around the community center and ball fields. He was
told by a maintenance person to move on.
9:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of someone shooting up in the
air on Linnell Road, where wolves were howling. A few minutes
later, bullets hit the barn roof.
10:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he lost $50 cash near Birch
Terrace.
Friday, July 20
1:25 a.m., Grand Marais: A door found open on a downtown
store was secured.
5:25 a.m., Tofte: Report of a missing person who was last seen
tubing down the Temperance River.
9:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an injured fox in the ditch off
County Road 7.
10:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of garbage all over the highway
at East Fifth Street.
5:47 p.m., Grand Marais: A young couple with foreign accents
went into Radio Shack to buy sodium hydroxide, and when
asked what they needed it for they wouldn’t say. The clerk said it
seemed suspicious and wanted to pass the info along.
8:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A stray dog from Wisconsin turned up
at Angry Trout.
9:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about someone shooting
and lighting off fireworks near Gustav Lane.
10:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone who looked
intoxicated got into a white pick-up at Dairy Queen and drove
off.
Saturday, July 21
12:55 a.m., Schroeder: Report of a suspicious guy wearing a black
T-shirt with brown pants, walking along the highway at mile
marker 80.
1:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about loud music at Birch
Terrace, and loud people outside making a lot of noise.
9:34 a.m., Grand Marais: A chocolate lab, Sarge, has been gone
for over an hour.
2:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Person wanted to know if it was legal to
camp in the Paradise Beach area, and was told to follow the signs;
in some places it is allowed, in others it isn’t.
3:27 p.m., Schroeder: A broken 911 call was received about
someone stuck in the Temperance River. It was a girl and a dog
holding onto a stick, about a half-mile up the hiking trail.
4:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run near Joynes.
7:23 p.m., Schroeder: Caller wanted to know if there are any
restrictions on jet skis on Lake Superior, because riders are
disturbing her grandkids and all the wildlife in the area.
7:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a car alarm going off for the
past two hours on Hungry Jack Road.
7:50 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said a woman was out on the deck
swearing and using inappropriate language, and waving her fist.
10:52 p.m., Colvill: Complaint about someone lighting
firecrackers near the fire hall.
