9:54 a.m., Hovland: Residential burglar alarm.
11:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a log splitter and
kayak from a cabin on Devil Track Road.
11:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of motorists speeding
through the construction area on Devil Track Road.
12:26 p.m., Hovland: Report of a swamped canoe at the mouth of
the Royal River. The occupants got out of the water safely.
1:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Business reported that an employee
who was fired last week has been seen on the property since then,
and some items are missing.
5:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A well-fed Pomeranian with no collar
was found at an East Highway 61 residence.
5:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle roll-over on Shoe Lake Road.
Nobody was around.
6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dog in a silver vehicle
parked near Gunflint Tavern with the windows rolled up.
Tuesday, July 10
3:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a truck running
outside Sawtooth Lumber.
8:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone drained the grease
from his outboard motor that had been sitting at his residence,
and when he went to use it, did damage of over $1,000.
11:36 a.m., Lutsen: Business reported stolen items of over $2,000.
11:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned for the welfare
of a large lab left in a parked car near the courthouse.
1:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Fender-bender in the Bearskin Lodge
parking lot.
3:54 p.m., Lutsen: Gas drive-off of $15.21 from Clearview.
4:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Stray yellow lab was seen in a back yard
on Eighth Avenue West.
Wednesday, July 11
7:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he needed a police escort to
go get his clothes.
7:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller was concerned about all the dust
on Pike Lake Road caused by the construction, and requested
that it be wet down.
8:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Security State Bank got a permit for the
removal of sea gull chicks due to ongoing problems.
8:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Forged prescription investigation.
11:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man cited for driving
after suspension.
Thursday, July 12
7:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Visitor to the Law Enforcement Center
wanted to know if it is legal to shoot crows along the highway
during the season.
8:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller lost a 10-year anniversary ring at
the Farmers Market.
12:54 p.m., Schroeder: Suspicious activity reported at
Temperance River State Park.
1:51 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a little dog left in a parked vehicle in
the sun on Ski Hill Road. The caller said the dog is panting and
looks very hot, and has been there at least an hour.
4:25 p.m., Hovland: Caller said her partner ran his hand through
the saw.
5:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy assistance requested to remove
an unwanted person from a residence.
6:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of kids on ATVs and motor
bikes on the beach.
Friday, July 13
1:07 p.m., Tofte: Terroristic threats investigation.
7:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Someone turned in a dog at Buck’s
Hardware.
10:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man walking down the
highway near mile marker 111 who tried to jump in front of a
vehicle. He then took off and could not be found.
11:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a guy lying on the corner of
the highway and County Road 7 in front of Gofer Cabins.
Saturday, July 14
12:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic disturbance at Gofer Cabins.
A mother who had been drinking was beating on her daughter,
and threw the cell phone against the wall.
1:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint about loud people
arguing near Dockside.
2:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a loud party near 8th
Avenue West.
9:48 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said she was experiencing “prickly heat,”
and felt like she was on fire.
10:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglary report.
2:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of panting and barking dogs in a
parked Iowa vehicle at 3rd Avenue West and West 1st Street.
3:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an apricot poodle in a parked
truck at Artist Point. The dog was panting, but otherwise not
noticeably distressed.
3:53 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic disturbance.
9:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Suspicious vehicle investigation.
9:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint. Caller said she could
hear music from town all the way out at her house, three miles
out of town.
9:24 p.m., Grand Marais: A window was found to be open at the
Senior Center.
Sunday, July 15
2:36 a.m., Grand Portage: Burglar alarm at the national
monument.
8:33 a.m., Tofte: Caller was concerned about a pit bull puppy that
was left tied outside from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. with no food or water
replenished, and no shade.
1:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he and his family are living
out in the woods, and was wondering if a deputy could come and
pick up his wife and child.
4:00 p.m., Grand Marais: A neighbor took a child’s toy car and
said she gave her $5 for it, but the girl didn’t have the money or
her mother’s permission to sell the car. The neighbor wouldn’t
give it back.
9:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a van parked on the side
of the road near Mount Josephine at the wayside rest since the
previous day.
