injured owl in the southbound lane of the
highway, near mile marker 94.
1:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
that some items have been stolen from the
family cabin, possibly by his brother.
6:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
was chased around his garbage truck by a
bear at Trout Lake.
Thursday, June 28
1:34 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic
altercation reported at the lodge. Security
staff was threatened by an intoxicated
man.
3:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about delivery trucks parking all night
at Sawtooth Lumber with their motors
running.
5:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two
kids arguing at the skate park.
Friday, June 29
1:39 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy called
to the lodge to remove an unruly man.
6:42 a.m., Tofte: Barking dog complaint.
9:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft
of fuel and damage to logging equipment
at Nester Creek.
1:33 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a small
orange car driving northbound on the
bike path.
2:37 p.m., Schroeder: Kayakers flipped
over and were in the water at Temperance
River State Park.
4:37 p.m., Grand Portage: A person
turned in five driver’s licenses that were
found at Mount Josephine.
Saturday, June 30
1:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
a motorcycle parked in front of Shoreline
Motel with its radio blaring. The owner
was talking on a cell phone, too.
10:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Identity theft
reported.
2:11 p.m., Lutsen: Grass fire reported near
Lutsen Resort.
5:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed
concern for a dog that was in a parked
vehicle near Joynes, with the windows
only cracked an inch.
11:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called
to a domestic disturbance.
Sunday, July 1
12:27 p.m., Grand Marais: “Thelma,” a
ragdoll female cat, was reported missing.
12:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
lost two kids and a dog on the Spur Trail.
2:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said her
water is rusty brown. PUC notified.
10:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Shots heard to
the west of the DNR office.
11:41 p.m., Grand Marais: A Grand
Marais man was taken into custody on a
Washington County warrant.
Monday, July 2
12:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
someone pounded on her door, then left
in a hurry.
12:55 a.m., Grand Portage: Grand Portage
man arrested for DWI.
12:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
a dog was in a parked van, with no
windows rolled down, near North House.
1:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
two dogs were inside a minivan, with
two windows only cracked slightly, near
Joynes. The dogs were barking.
3:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of three
men in their early 20s hanging out near
the drainage creek on Seventh Avenue
East.
4:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle accident
on Cascade Beach Road.
7:02 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off from
Holiday.
7:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about RVs illegally parked near the bridge
at Cascade Lodge.
7:25 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said there is a
person passed out with his head out the
window on Honeymoon Trail, and they
had stolen liquor from their (caller’s)
campsite.
Tuesday, July 3
9:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a
truck must have slipped out of gear at the
Pincushion Overlook and gone over the
center median and rolled down the hill.
No one was inside.
9:36 a.m., Schroeder: Report of three
stolen coolers from campsites at Lamb’s
Resort.
10:09 a.m., Grand Portage: Break-in and
burglary reported.
5:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
complained that her 14- and 15-year-old
children were renting R-rated movies
from Super America.
11:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
underage drinking party on 10th Avenue
West.
11:28 p.m., Grand Portage: Thunder
Bay woman arrested at the border for
controlled substance violations.
Wednesday, July 4
12:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
dangerous wash-out on County Road 92.
12:35 a.m., Grand Marais: A man was
locked out of the building at East Bay
Suites, and didn’t have his cell phone to
call his wife (who is inside).
5:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Dead deer
reported near the water tower.
2:46 p.m., Tofte: Reported burglary.
6:17 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault
reported.
10:02 p.m., Grand Marais: A golden
retriever was found running up the
Gunflint Trail, probably scared off by the
fireworks.
10:19 p.m., Tofte: A canoe flipped over
near Bluefin Bay.
Thursday, July 5
8:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
she was getting phone calls from a man
saying he was her grandson, asking her
for money.
11:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost
wedding ring at the Rec Park.
1:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog
complaint.
3:12 p.m., Schroeder: Accident involving
a motorcycle and car reported, with
injuries.
9:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint
about a loose dog that keeps coming into
a Wisconsin Street restaurant.
Friday, July 6
12:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
saw three people running around on the
roof of City Hall.
10:16 a.m., Tofte: Caller had some
concerns about the parade – candy should
be thrown farther out in front of vehicles
so kids don’t get run over, and some of
the collector vehicles were revving their
engines and driving a little fast.
11:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted
to know what a deputy was doing at his
residence.
12:22 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of
a vehicle in the ditch near Reservation
River.
1:29 p.m., Schroeder: Report that there
is a man waving at cars going by near
Taconite Harbor.
Saturday, July 7
9:52 a.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off
from the Trading Post.
1:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
black curly dog hanging around the Blue
Water Café.
2:40 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a dog in a
parked vehicle with no water on the ski
hill.
Sunday, July 8
12:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog
complaint.
4:08 p.m., Schroeder: A caller on the
Superior Hiking Trail said he was lost and
needed help. A deputy and Forest Service
officers went in off Sugarloaf Road and
met them, and got them out safely. A
deputy transported them back to Silver
Bay.
4:46 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
young boy wearing black socks and a
diaper, walking around near the edge
of the road at the golf course. The boy’s
mother was called to go pick him up.
5:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off
from Holiday.
