Monday, Aug. 17

7:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an old dumpy camper and other junk on Lake Superior across from East County Road 14.

10:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint. The caller said his neighbor’s dogs wake him every night at 2 a.m.

11:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Harassment order violation.

12:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit and run at the IGA parking lot. Damage to the trunk was set at more than $1,000.

3:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Someone dropped off old shotgun shells at the Law Enforcement Center.

4:54 p.m., Grand Marais: A gray terrier that was wandering along the highway near the post office was picked up and taken to the pound.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

11:56 a.m., Grand Marais: An underage shoplifter was apprehended at Holiday and returned to his parents.

1:04 p.m., Grand Marais: $400 bail was paid for a man jailed on a Washington County warrant.

1:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Property damage reported. $500 damage was done by someone driving around a field.

1:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Minor damage to a vehicle (scratches) after a boy hit it with his bike. No injuries.

4:08 p.m., Grand Marais: A chainsaw was found on the highway near Gofer Cabins.

5:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a low-hanging telephone line across County Road 14.

Wednesday, Aug. 19

3:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance requested for a woman who fell at the west end of the Croftville Road.

8:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a single gunshot in the area of the Tire and Auto Lodge. It was an engine backfire.

Thursday, Aug. 20

6:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Two loose horses seen on the east end of County Road 14.

8:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 29, cited for no proof of insurance.

7:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of $200 reported from a purse that was left unattended at the clinic.

8:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle towed from the ditch on Bally Creek Road.

Friday, Aug. 21

12:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Investigation of a suspicious vehicle parked on the Arrowhead Trail.

8:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Explosives permit issued.

2:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Verbal domestic reported in the parking lot of the Birchwood Apartments.

4:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Edina man, 31, arrested for driving after cancellation.

8:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of two vehicles speeding up and down Brandon Lane.

9:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Bloomington woman, 24, arrested for driving after suspension due to four previous “fail to appear or pay fines” license suspensions, indicating she was unlikely to respond to a citation.

11:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Eveleth man, 62, cited for expired driver’s license.

Saturday, Aug. 22 1:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint.

7:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft of money from a vehicle.

8:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing complaint.

2:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an assault that occurred Wednesday night at Birch Terrace.

Sunday, Aug. 23

2:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle hot-rodding around the neighborhood. A deputy was unable to find the vehicle.

2:06 p.m., Grand Portage: Report that a dog was shot by a neighbor. The vet determined it was a pellet gun and the dog will survive.

2:31 p.m., Schroeder: Caller reported that he was digging in his yard and believes he cut through a power line, but he still had power at the garage and home.

3:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an intoxicated man walking in the middle of the highway.

3:50 p.m., Tofte: A 20-year-old man who was skateboarding down the Sawbill Trail fell and suffered head and other injuries. He was transported to the hospital.

11:15 p.m., Grand Portage: Thunder Bay woman, 39, arrested for DWI and booked into jail.
