Monday, June 11
6:40 a.m., Tofte: Bluefin Bay reported a low-flying plane the
day before that appeared headed for the lake, with no audible
engine.
8:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a plane was seen last
Friday with a high-pitched whining that sounded really weird.
Civil Air Patrol was notified.
8:47 a.m., Grand Portage: Report that a boat went missing on
the Pigeon River. The boat had been stored for four or five years
at the dock, and was last seen about two weeks ago.
10:03 a.m., Grand Marais: No-injury accident at the stop light.
11:39 a.m., Grand Portage: A U.S. citizen was found by Customs
with a concealed pop can containing marijuana and a pot pipe.
12:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Another sighting of the missing
aircraft was reported.
6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Island Road after a
tree went down on a power line.
8:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Threats made.
Tuesday, June 12
1:49 a.m., Grand Portage: Report that a vehicle was en route to
Duluth from the lodge with a large amount of Lortabs on board.
12:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Another sighting of the missing
aircraft was reported.
2:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller thought someone was passed
out at the ATM, but he had fallen asleep.
3:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Trash dumping reported.
11:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic altercation in the casino
parking lot.
Wednesday, June 13
7:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Two possible sightings of the missing
aircraft were reported.
10:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost ring reported at Seagull Lake.
10:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire alarm at Bethlehem Lutheran
Church. It was burned bread in the kitchen.
11:19 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic altercation.
12:51 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said she may have heard the missing
plane over Lockport Store on Friday afternoon.
12:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said a 23-year-old woman
was selling pills (Lortab and oxycodone).
2:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Harassing phone calls reported.
2:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Investigation involving illegal bath
salts and an international student.
4:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run with minor damage at
Blue Water Café.
7:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Phone lines at the hospital and care
center were down.
8:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern about
neighbor children’s welfare.
Thursday, June 14
1:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller stopped in the Law
Enforcement Center because he was concerned for the safety of
his family after receiving a text message from somebody who is
angry with him.
10:14 a.m., Grand Marais: The theft of two coolers was reported
from the Rec Park. Also, a kid was caught peeking in the truck
windows.
10:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he saw the missing plan
on Friday.
12:14 p.m., Grand Marais: An injured fawn was being pecked at
by birds. Referred to the game warden.
1:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he saw the missing plane
on Friday, circling overhead and traveling southwest.
2:25 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said there was something blue and
white up in the trees at Cascade Lake public access, and it might
be the missing plane. A deputy was sent to check it out.
11:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Three crosswalk signs were knocked
over near the pharmacy, blocking the southbound lane.
Friday, June 15
1:20 a.m., Grand Marais: A fire and carbon monoxide alarm
went off at a residence. The caller wanted the children checked
for poisoning.
9:21 a.m., Hovland: Trespass complaint.
10:46 a.m., Grand Marais: A wiener dog named Peanut was
reported lost on Broadway, then found.
10:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a parked truck near Trout
Lake Road with its door wide open. The caller said it should be
checked out.
11:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a suspicious car parked at
Grand Marais Apartments.
7:53 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog was following hikers on the
trail at Cascade State Park.
Saturday, June 16
12:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a moose with a trap stuck
on its hind leg.
6:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Investigation into a downed
residential phone line near the Sea Wall lot.
7:43 p.m., Grand Marais: A fawn was in the middle of the
highway at the bottom of the Gunflint Trail, and would not get
off the roadway. It was gone when a trooper responded.
Sunday, June 17
7:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of an ice-cold man, obviously
dead, at Windigo. He died in his sleep during the night.
11:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Burglary alarm at the Border Patrol
building.
12:01 a.m., Grand Portage: The Coast Guard crew brought in a
body to the boat launch, which was found in the Pigeon River.
3:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Large pieces of debris were seen
offshore from Croftville Road.
5:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Theft of a GPS from a vehicle
reported.
