Monday, May 28
12:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle at mile
marker 116.
10:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to remove an
unwanted person from a residence.
11:32 a.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
12:06 p.m., Grand Portage: An unlicensed driver was stopped
and warned.
12:41 p.m., Grand Portage: A driver was stopped and warned
after she went through a stop sign on Townsite Road.
1:00 p.m., Grand Portage: A caller expressed concern for her
and her family’s safety from her ex, and spoke with a deputy
about ways to stay safe and how to obtain an OFP.
3:27 p.m., Grand Portage: A guy ran Canada Customs and
Canadian authorities declared him unfit to drive and took his
vehicle.
3:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Minor hit-and-run damage reported
to a parked vehicle on West First Street.
Tuesday, May 29
10:09 a.m., Grand Portage: A fire drill was conducted at the
Community Center.
2:38 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with motorists whom
a caller said frequently blow through the yield sign on West
Third Street and Ninth Avenue West. The caller was concerned
about children who play in the area.
3:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said one of the drivers who was
just spoken to by a deputy stopped in front of his house and
gave the finger, probably in retaliation for reporting him.
Wednesday, May 30
1:04 p.m., Grand Portage: Dog bite to a 10-year-old’s face (above
eyebrow) reported.
7:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible break-in reported.
7:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said three females in a Jeep
blew through stop signs in town. They were described as “young
teenagers.”
7:28 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with a driver due to a
complaint about driving conduct.
8:39 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy assistance requested to
remove an unwanted intoxicated man from the lodge.
Thursday, May 31
10:47 a.m., Lutsen: A dump truck was stuck in the ditch off
Caribou Trail.
3:56 p.m., Tofte: Break-in reported at an employee housing unit.
Reported missing was about $7 worth of quarters.
4:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a missing stop sign at West
Fifth Street and Second Avenue West near the high school.
7:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint about vehicles at
Pike Lake access off Murmur Creek Road.
10:36 p.m., Tofte: Report of a fire behind the North Shore
Market. It was someone burning brush.
Friday, June 1
1:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Assault reported at Birch Terrace.
10:26 a.m., Grand Marais: A lost beagle, Bonnie, was reported
on Croftville Road. The beagle was later found.
3:27 p.m., Grand Marais: School bus stop arm violation
reported at Eighth Avenue West and the highway.
5:23 p.m., Lutsen: Gunshots heard in Grandview Loop, possibly
target shooting.
Saturday, June 2
2:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller complained about “very loud”
noise coming from Birch Terrace.
3:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said an intoxicated man came
up to her vehicle and tried talking to her, then got into a beat-up
blue Blazer with a missing headlight and drove down the hill.
5:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an overdue hiker at Cascade
State Park.
9:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller was en route to a friend’s place
in Thunder Bay in a pickup with a canoe, and stopped at a rest
stop to stretch his legs. He then noticed that his daughter’s cat
was in the back of the truck, and said he needs to figure out
where to keep the cat while he’s in Canada for about three days.
11:14 p.m., Grand Portage: A man who was “drunker than
drunk” was removed from the lounge.
Sunday, June 3
12:05 a.m., Grand Portage: Child neglect report after a 5-yearold boy was left alone in his room and got locked out; the
parents were down at the slots.
12:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a pit party on Cascade
River Road.
12:23 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller wanted to know why a deputy
keeps driving by his house, as there is no arrest warrant out on
him.
2:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Three flee on foot citations were issued
to persons on Cascade River Road.
6:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a vehicle went
into the ditch off Pike Lake Road, and went into the woods
pretty far and had to cut out a couple trees to get out. There was
garbage scattered in the area.
8:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of kids in two vehicles messing
around in the Rec Park.
2:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an overdue plane from the
airport.
2:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Drug investigation.
3:42 p.m., Tofte: Caller wondered if a vehicle that has been
parked in a lot for four or five days is stolen.
6:12 p.m., Schroeder: Report of exhibition driving on Cramer
Road.
