Monday, May 21
10:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he lost a black roll-up case
containing four filet knives.
12:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said an older woman backed
into her car near the Blue Water and left the scene, then came
back around and drove slowly by, possibly looking for damage.
6:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy contacted about theft and
property damage on the high school campus.
6:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a man was
sleeping in a white pick-up at the end of his driveway and he
needed to move.
7:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone went into her
mailbox and stole her vehicle tabs.
11:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an unattended campfire at
the Flour Lake Campground.
Tuesday, May 22
12:13 a.m., Grand Portage: The Border Store reported that five
garbage cans were knocked over by a collared black bear.
7:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Loose dog on First Avenue West.
10:30 a.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was left at the register at
IGA.
10:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller from the Devil Track
campground wanted to speak with a deputy about damage done
to three or four garbage cans.
4:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a drunk woman would not
leave his property.
5:31 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of shots fired, probably target
shooting, near County Road 7.
Wednesday, May 23
9:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to speak with someone
about having a house tested for meth.
10:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to the bike shop where
a customer had a problem with a bike he just bought and was
using abusive language.
7:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to know why nothing
was done about his report back in December regarding his
neighbor cutting down trees.
8:35 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a wash-out on the highway near
Caribou River.
Thursday, May 24
7:48 a.m., Hovland: Dead deer in the middle of the highway
near Magney State Park.
8:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone was shooting a
cabin on Wesley Lane.
11:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of several down trees on
Clearwater Lake Road.
5:14 p.m., Grand Marais: The ditch along Creechville Road was
overflowing. Flooding was also reported on County Road 7,
Taconite Harbor and the municipal parking lot downtown.
8:31 p.m., Grand Marais: The Highway Department staff said a
man driving a silver vehicle was threatening them, and chased
them up County Road 48.
9:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Two dogs were running on the
Gunflint Trail near Pincushion. A yellow lab was hit by a vehicle
and was sitting on the road side.
Friday, May 25
7:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a motorcycle has been
parked on the highway near North House for several days, and
was now tipped over.
10:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a person riding an ATV on
the highway, coming into town from the east.
10:47 a.m., Schroeder: A semi hit the overpass at Tac Harbor
and pulled over near Baraga’s Cross. Equipment on the back was
leaking hydraulic fluid.
11:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a tree from his neighbor’s
yard was across his driveway, and he cut it up and put it back on
the neighbor’s property.
11:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that someone tried to break
into a business.
5:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large hole on the Forest
Service Road near Ball Club Road, with logs sticking straight up
out of it to mark the hole. The caller said it was a road hazard.
7:08 p.m., Hovland: Report of 10-12 gunshots near North Road.
7:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about illegal dumping of
trees and brush.
9:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of two vehicles drag racing on
Broadway.
Saturday, May 26
1:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost wallet at Mink Lake.
2:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a white and gray wolf has
been hanging around her house and upsetting the garbage cans,
and does not appear to be frightened of people.
2:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there is a Dodge Stratus
with Wisconsin plates that comes to the area bringing narcotics
every two or three days. The involved people go to different
emergency rooms and get the narcotics, and are also responsible
for gas drive-offs all along the North Shore, the caller said.
3:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about four or five ATVs on
the shoulder of the highway driving at a high rate of speed.
9:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man snooping in vehicles
in the Manitoo Trail parking area.
10:27 p.m., Hovland: One shot was heard from the Hovland
Dock area.
Sunday, May 27
5:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a strong smell of smoke on
County Road 7/44.
12:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a stolen driver’s license and
cash card from a parked vehicle.
5:23 p.m., Schroeder: A springer-type dog was found.
8:54 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a suspicious man carrying a gas can
on Sawmill Drive.
