music and voices on Bay Estates Drive.
2:51 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy assistance
requested to remove an unwanted
intoxicated person from the casino.
6:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Graffiti was
discovered on MnDOT’s cold storage
building and storage shed. “Deadhead,”
“Hilltoppers,” and various pictures were
spray-painted in different colors sometime
over the weekend.
9:02 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested
to speak with a person concerned about a
suspicious person.
9:50 a.m., Grand Marais: The Kingdom Hall
was spray-painted.
11:36 a.m., Grand Marais: A stray gray cat
was found at Great Expectations school.
11:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Theft of a bicycle
reported.
2:22 p.m., Grand Marais: The Forest Service
reported a skunk out in the front grass area
with a cup over its head, and heading toward
the highway. State Patrol was notified.
9:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
mattress on County Road 7 near Good
Harbor Hill.

10:20 a.m., Hovland: Caller said he found
a 16-foot aluminum canoe last fall, asked
around but no one knew about it.
11:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost
purse.
2:12 p.m., Grand Portage: A military
deserter was stopped at the port of entry.
4:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of
$59.01 from the Trading Post.
5:13 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of
$48 from the Trading Post.
5:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Missing bicycle
reported.
Wednesday, April 25
7:55 a.m., Grand Marais: A person who
found a camo backpack containing cash and
clothing in mid-March turned it in at the
Law Enforcement Center. He said he wasn’t
able to locate the owner.
11:17 a.m., Grand Marais: An older black lab
with a lame front leg was taken to the pound
from Gofer Cabins.
6:54 p.m., Grand Marais: An old beat-up
maroon Cutlass appeared to have hit a tree
on Pine Mountain Road. It was on the edge
of the road facing the wrong way. Nobody
was around.
Thursday, April 26
1:09 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a
vehicle-deer collision about 10 miles west
of the casino. The deer was killed and the
vehicle sustained front-end damage.
8:38 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said at about
6:40 this morning she saw a wolf running in
the ditch carrying in its mouth what looked
like a small poodle-ish type dog with a red
collar.
1:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
injured wolf on Humphrey Circle.
6:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an outof control 12-year-old child.
Friday, April 27
2:28 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about
dump trucks speeding on Devil Track Road.
2:58 p.m., Grand Portage: Two females with
14.7 grams of marijuana were stopped by
Customs.
8:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Grand Portage
man arrested for DWI.
8:25 p.m., Grand Marais: No medical or
deputy assistance was needed to separate
a dispute between two dementia patients
at the Care Center. A nursing assistant
separated the two parties.
Saturday, April 28
12:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
she was locked out of a house she was
caretaking.
4:08 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a guy
yelling for help on Mile Creek Road.
7:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he
accidentally hit and killed a small dog on the
highway.
8:24 a.m., Grand Marais: The phones were
not working at the hospital.
8:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Fire in the alley
between Third and Fourth streets.

area of Aspenwood.

2:05 p.m., Grand Marais: A fire was burning
about a half-mile west of the intersection of
County Roads 7 and 48.
4:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that a green
light was out at the stop light.
7:21 p.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was found
and turned in at the Law Enforcement
Center.

8:16 a.m., Grand Marais: A 911 call was a
child playing with the phone.
8:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted
information on how many horses are
allowed to be kept on a neighboring
property.
9:11 a.m., Grand Portage: A concerned
citizen reported that someone is driving
without a driver’s license and would like
something done about it.
6:27 p.m., Tofte: A person fell and hit his
head on the rocks outside Bluefin Bay.
7:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a person
in town who had a warrant out on him.
8:11 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin
Bay.
Wednesday, May 2
2:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage at
Golden Eagle Lodge.
9:31 a.m., Grand Portage: Ontario man
cited for possession of a small amount of
marijuana.
7:48 p.m., Hovland: A line (seven-strand
cable) was knocked down on Arrowhead
Trail. It was unknown if it was power, phone
or what, but there were no outages reported
in the area.
10:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of an
unoccupied vehicle in the Rec Park near the
sliding hill.
11:06 p.m., Schroeder: Vehicle theft
reported.
Thursday, May 3
11:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loose
dog near the high school.
12:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that
someone has been dumping trash bags along
County Road 14 since late fall. Info was
found in one of the bags.
1:51 p.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud
reported.
6:46 p.m., Grand Marais: A black lab was
hanging out at a West Fifth Street residence,
and it had been there all night. The caller
requested that the owner be contacted to
come and pick the dog up.
9:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Loose horse on
Brandon Lane.

8:12 a.m., Grand Portage: Complaint that
someone was driving around without a
license.
4:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Courthouse
reported that someone was possibly high,
and she went over the embankment in the
parking lot.
5:26 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of
$20 from the Trading Post.
7:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Chimney fire on
Rosebush Lane.
Saturday, May 5
12:29 p.m., Grand Marais: A male and
female were involved in a domestic
confrontation at Holiday.
1:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of
a hitch and rock protector from a Rec Park
campsite. The missing items are valued at
$250.
3:29 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment.
3:44 p.m., Lutsen: Report of someone
shooting toward the lake. Four or five guys
were seen in the area.
4:06 p.m., Tofte: Vehicle rollover on Sawbill
Trail/Pancore Lake Road. Three occupants
were able to get out of the vehicle.
Sunday, May 6
1:32 a.m., Grand Portage: Vehicle in the
ditch on Bay Estates Drive.
6:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Security alarm was
going off near Benny’s Collision.
6:29 a.m., Hovland: A deputy was requested
to contact the caller’s son who was camping
in the area. They needed to tell him that his
basement was flooding and the dad was not
sure what to do.
7:12 a.m., Grand Portage: Complaint about
repeated and ongoing traffic and noise on
the Upper Road around bar time. The caller
said the entire neighborhood is disturbed
and kept awake, and asked for increased
patrols.
5:21 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle stopped
in the middle of the highway in front of SA,
flipped off and made other gestures to the
caller, and then headed west into town.
8:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Ongoing problem
reported about a collie that is often loose
wandering Eighth Avenue West and pooping
in the caller’s garden.
Monday, May 7
9:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost Kindle
reported.
1:43 p.m., Grand Marais: A small back pack
was found at Gene’s Foods.
3:13 p.m., Grand Marais: A lost beagle was at
the high school.
5:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Damaged mailbox
reported on East Highway 61. The caller said
it appeared to be clipped by a truck.
7:01 p.m., Hovland: Caller said a man in
his mid-20s stopped at her house, doing
a survey on religion and politics. He was
driving a white sedan and had shaggy hair.
7:17 p.m., Grand Marais: A person was told
not to ride a scooter on the city streets, and
to push it home.

10:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Harassing phone
calls reported.
11:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Lost wallet
reported.
3:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Three kids
were up on the roof of the pavilion at the
Community Center.
9:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Stalking reported.
The caller said a blue Tahoe was following
her.

12:45 p.m., Lutsen: Report of a semi with
smoke coming out of it on the Caribou Trail/
Highway 61.
2:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Game warden
requested at Sag Landing after a dead animal
was found in a large white garbage bag.
4:32 p.m., Grand Portage: Fire in the ditch
near Hollow Rock.
Thursday, May 10
8:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a
small dog chasing traffic at the intersection
of West Fifth Street and Fifth Avenue West.
8:56 a.m., Grand Marais: A husky-looking
dog was seen in a chicken coop on
Creechville Road, and took a dead chicken
out. The other five chickens are gone as of
some time last night, only feathers left, but
the caller did not see what took them.
6:20 p.m., Grand Marais: False alarm at the
credit union, set off by a cleaning person.
6:59 p.m., Grand Portage: Suspicious activity
reported on Townsite Road.
7:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was
supposed to meet his daughter at the library
at 6 p.m. and she didn’t show up.
8:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of rocks in
the westbound lane of the highway.

8:26 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he has
been getting hate mail and is concerned for
his safety.

unattended fire in a pit on Forest Road 678.

6:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Grass fire on
