12:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a large
explosion on County Road 7.
1:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Devil
Track Road.
1:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Tree down about a halfmile north of the Pines on the Gunflint Trail.
2:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Gull
Lake Lane.
3:09 a.m., Grand Marais: Numerous reports of
very slippery highways and trees down. Highway
Department notified.
3:30 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $50.11 from
Holiday.
6:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a person
possibly on drugs at the intersection of Eighth
Avenue West and Highway 61.
Tuesday, April 17
9:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost smart
phone somewhere downtown.
4:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller received a
Facebook message from a wanted person saying
“I think we need to talk, I’ll try calling you
tonight.”
7:05 p.m., Hovland: Caller said he just had a fire
downstairs.
Wednesday, April 18
9:53 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost husky.
The dog has been gone since 5 a.m.
1:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Phone problems at the
hospital.
5:19 p.m., Lutsen: Tree down and blocking most
of the Caribou Trail.
Thursday, April 19
10:31 a.m., Hovland: A pair of prescription
glasses was found on Tom Lake Road.
2:58 p.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of $81.42
on April 1 reported at the Trading Post.
4:02 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run reported
in Johnson’s Foods parking lot. A parked truck
was backed into, and the caller said the driver
also almost hit her while she was walking in the
parking lot.
8:53 p.m., Tofte: Chimney fire at Bluefin Bay.
Friday, April 20
12:10 p.m., Grand Marais: A 5-year-old boy
without shoes or socks was seen near the
courthouse and said that is where he lives, but
there were no adults around.
3:56 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said there was a
drug deal going on, right out in the open.
4:14 p.m., Lutsen: Report of an altercation at
Poplar Creek that involved yelling, pounding and
kicking a vehicle, and spitting into the window.
8:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his son was
possibly with an unauthorized adult.
Saturday, April 21
5:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a woman
walked to County Road 7 from her home on
Brandon Lane, looking for her car. She said she
was cold and wasn’t acting right.
8:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Harassment reported.
9:52 a.m., Grand Marais: A caller notified the
Sheriff ’s Department about a wanted person who
was believed to be in a local residence.
12:02 p.m., Grand Marais: A black horse was
loose on Linnell Road.
12:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of possible
suspicious activity.
9:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to check
on a vehicle in the parking lot at WTIP.
Sunday, April 22
2:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic argument.
9:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of possible dog
poisoning, believed to be rat poison.
11:21 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a possibly
stolen car was stashed at Gofer Cabins.
11:57 a.m., Tofte: A person said she was hiking
near Temperance River State Park and saw some
clothes hanging in a tree (red sweatshirt, pants,
etc.) and thought it was suspicious.
1:37 p.m., Schroeder: Deer struck on the
highway. There was front-end damage to the
vehicle, and the deer ran off into the woods.
2:00 p.m., Hovland: Thunder Bay man, 55, cited
for speeding.
4:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there was a
plane going back and forth
in a grid-like pattern at Sea
Gull Lake Road, and it’s been
going on for an hour or so
and the plane has made 10
passes. It was unknown what
was going on.
6:41 p.m., Grand Portage: A
wildland fire was reported on
Mineral Center Road.
10:28 p.m., Grand Marais:
A wanted person was at
the hospital in Brownsville,
Texas. He was taken there
because he was flipping out.
11:50 p.m., Grand Marais: A
large wolf was seen walking
towards Grand Marais on
County Road 7, just west of
Birchwood Apartments.
