Monday, Jan. 30

7:36 a.m., Tofte: Gray box alarm going off in a basement. It
was a DLV level alarm.
9:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Pocket dial received. Voices could be
heard in the background, but it didn’t sound like anyone was
in distress.
11:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his chocolate lab ran off.
5:16 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle went off Deeryard Road
and into the ditch. A tow truck was needed.
5:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Customs stopped a woman from
Ontario who they believe may have been intoxicated. She was
sent back into Canada.
Tuesday, Jan. 31

8:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
9:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Vandalism reported at the Rec Park.
There was green spray paint on a stop sign that says “try and
stop me”; “WFO” on the rocks; damage on and near the ball
field; and a small jack pine tree was run over. There are no
suspects.
11:03 a.m., Lutsen: A black lab took off and was last seen
running toward the golf course.
11:09 a.m., Grand Marais: A chocolate lab was running
around the hospital parking lot.
12:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible pocket dial received.
1:37 p.m., Schroeder: Residential burglar alarm.
4:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Stearns County requested local
deputies be on the look-out for a possibly suicidal woman
who was headed up the North Shore.
5:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck west of town.
9:55 p.m., Tofte: Report of a party going on with possibly
underage drinking.
Wednesday, Feb. 1

7:19 a.m., Schroeder: Deer struck by a vehicle.
10:34 a.m., Hovland: Chimney fire reported on Tower Road.
11:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said grandma lost her purse
somewhere around town, and everything was cancelled but
someone wrote one of her checks at Buck’s Hardware for $40.
11:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $41.78 from
Holiday. The driver was found and stopped and advised to
give payment info to the store.
12:08 p.m., Hovland: Possible burglary investigation.
2:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Pocket dial received. There was
some weird music, and it sounded like someone was doing
dishes. A second call was received three minutes later. A third
call from the same number came in at 2:11, and the phone
company was contacted to get info on the cell phone.
6:47 p.m., Grand Portage: Investigation following a call saying
that a woman was buying cigarettes for minors and letting
them come to her house to smoke.
8:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Stolen prescription drugs
investigation.
Thursday, Feb. 2

4:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Domestic assault investigation.
11:24 a.m., Schroeder: A trooper responded after a logging
truck lost some logs on the highway near Caribou River.
4:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported a trashed apartment.
There were broken pots and pans, everything was rummaged
through, and a black bulldog is missing.
6:18 p.m., Grand Portage: Customs stopped a man with a
counterfeit $100 bill at the border.
Friday, Feb. 3

7:05 a.m., Grand Marais: A broken bag of trash was scattered
on the highway near Subway.
9:25 a.m., Grand Portage: Vehicle accident with injuries at
Stevens Road/Highway 61.
10:55 a.m., Schroeder: A red logging truck, fully loaded and
heading east, hit a MnDOT traffic control light, destroyed it
and didn’t stop.
11:50 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
17-year-old girl with a shoulder and neck injury.
1:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch on Lindskog
Road. Tow truck requested.
4:50 p.m., Lutsen: Damage reported off the Caribou Trail, on
the road into the Willis Lake Grouse area. Someone pried
open the fence, drove in and then back out.
Saturday, Feb. 4

1:44 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic argument reported.
11:56 a.m., Lutsen: A woman hiking the Superior Hiking Trail
from Lutsen Mountain said she was lost on the snowmobile
trail and asked for directions back to the hiking trail. She was
told to follow her tracks back to the hiking trail.
11:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to The Landing to
escort an intoxicated man off the premises.
Sunday, Feb. 5

9:18 a.m., Grand Marais: False alarm at Sivertson Gallery.
9:28 a.m., Grand Marais: A stop sign was removed from its
post at Fifth Avenue West and West Fifth Street. The city was
notified.
12:04 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a
pregnant 24-year-old woman who fell and temporarily lost
consciousness and was complaining of back pain.
3:40 p.m., Grand Marais: A motorist who was stuck on Devil
Track Road at Bally Creek Road requested that a tow truck be
called.
7:17 p.m., Lutsen: Injured wolf (rear left leg messed up)
walking along the highway near Mink Ranch.
