Monday, Jan. 23
6:17 a.m., Grand Marais: An
injured deer was seen heading
for the upper side of the
highway. The caller said it
needs to be dispatched.
6:38 a.m., Grand Marais:
Countywide power outage.
10:07 a.m., Schroeder: Car
on its side in the ditch at
mile marker 71.
1:46 p.m., Grand Marais:
Vehicle in the ditch on
Moonshadow Trail.
2:17 p.m., Lutsen: An injured gray wolf was seen on the
upper side of the ditch off County Road 34.
3:07 p.m., Grand Marais: A check was found on the bar and
is being held until the owner comes back.
7:59 p.m., Schroeder: A vehicle hit a tree that was down over
the highway near Temperance River. No injuries reported.
Tuesday, Jan. 24
8:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern about his
sister’s boyfriend, who he said was back using meth, and also
abuses drugs and alcohol.
9:13 a.m., Tofte: Deputy called to a rental property, where
the owner said the renter up and left and there was damage
to the property, broken pipes and garbage everywhere.
10:22 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that two dogs were
running loose in the school parking lot.
3:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Suicide threat investigated.
3:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost cell phone reported.
4:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone gassed him
and he passed out, then a suspect (someone that lives in the
building) came in and stole cash ($800) and some medical
bills about two weeks ago.
Wednesday, Jan. 25
9:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Stolen wallet reported at the school.
3:36 p.m., Grand Portage: Drug paraphernalia found and
turned in by a student.
Thursday, Jan. 26
7:17 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a female driving around
in a white truck. The caller said deputies have been unable to
find her because she has a radio all the time.
7:40 p.m., Tofte: Fire alarm at Bluefin was determined to be
false.
8:18 p.m. Tofte: Another fire alarm at Bluefin. A guest didn’t
open the damper on the fireplace.
8:48 p.m., Hovland: Report of a “huge” fire between
Horseshoe Bay and Moose Valley Road. No permits had
been issued for the area.
Friday, Jan. 27
12:49 a.m., Grand Portage: Complaint about a four-wheeler
driving back and forth on Townsite Road, disturbing the
neighborhood.
12:50 p.m., Lutsen: Bayport, Minn., man cited for theft of
services after he was caught skiing without a ticket.
1:07 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported a domestic
argument that happened at 1:30 a.m., and said she was
leaving town.
2:40 p.m., Grand Portage: Report that a suspect has been
intoxicated for the last four or five days, and has been
frequently shooting a weapon at wild animals. The report
was unfounded.
4:09 p.m., Lutsen: Two-vehicle accident with injuries on
Highway 61-Onion River Road.
5:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near
Solbakken. No injuries.
7:29 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin.
Saturday, Jan. 28
9:22 a.m., Grand Portage: A Canadian driver who isn’t
licensed was stopped at the border.
11:02 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone opened a
PayPal account using his credit card number.
12:13 p.m., Lutsen: Theft of two ski passes reported.
3:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Two men requested assistance with
getting their equipment off Cascade Lake because it was very
windy and cold, there were high snow drifts and their ATV
broke down.
Sunday, Jan. 29
1:41 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested at the hospital
in case a patient who was going to be discharged became
belligerent, as he has in the past, when they didn’t give him
narcotics.
1:26 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the skill hill after a
man hit a jump and went unconscious.
1:45 p.m., Lutsen: Report of an Ontario vehicle driving
unsafely near Lutsen Resort.
1:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
1:58 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested at the ski hill for a
combative skier who has been drinking and was injured. A
fist fight took place.
3:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
8:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Speeding citation issued.
9:10 p.m., Tofte: False fire alarm at Bluefin caused by a
damper issue.
