Monday, Jan. 2
3:36 a.m., Hovland: A tree was hanging out into the westbound
lane of traffic near Judge Magney Park.
4:43 a.m., Hovland: Large spruce tree was blocking the highway
near the fire hall.
11:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone drove an ATV
through his and a neighbor’s yard.
2:14 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 16-yearold with head injuries.
3:56 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 10-yearold with a head injury.
4:32 p.m., Lutsen: A semi truck was seen going through Lutsen,
and was really smoking.
10:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of shots being fired on County
Road 7 was a deputy dispatching an injured deer.
Tuesday, Jan. 3
6:06 a.m., Lutsen: A vehicle rolled on the icy road near Railroad
Drive.
6:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Fire alarm on East Fifth Street
determined to be false.
9:09 a.m., Hovland: Barking dog complaint.
1:22 p.m., Grand Marais: Residential burglar alarm.
6:34 p.m., Grand Marais: A large white dog was found at East Bay
Suites. It had no collar or tags, but appeared to be well taken care
of.
6:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he almost crashed on Eighth
Avenue West due to the slippery road surface, and requested that
someone treat the street.
8:18 p.m., Lutsen: An injured deer was dispatched by a deputy.
Wednesday, Jan. 4
12:27 a.m., Tofte: Two 911 calls came in from a cell phone, but
all that could be understood was “Sawbill Trail.” A deputy was
dispatched to the area to see what could be found.
2:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a stolen green Dodge Ram
with a dog box on the back. It was last seen in an apartment
parking lot in town.
8:46 a.m., Grand Portage: A wrecker was called to the scene of
a two-vehicle accident on Mile Creek Road. No injuries were
reported.
9:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said they were going to be
celebrating Epiphany at a Gunflint Trail residence that evening
and would be burning their Christmas tree outside, in case 911
gets any calls about it.
10:10 a.m., Grand Marais: Vulnerable adult case.
2:45 p.m., Schroeder: Temperance Landing reported damage to
linens, towels, carpeting, blinds and entry door totaling about
$600.
6:14 p.m., Grand Portage: Potential confrontation reported.
8:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost yellow lab reported by owner.
Thursday, Jan. 5
12:47 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller wanted someone removed
from her home.
11:34 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about logging trucks
speeding and driving unsafely on Peninsula Point.
12:07 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 20-yearold man with a back injury.
3:12 p.m., Lutsen: Numerous people were caught skiing without
passes at the ski hill.
4:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost wallet reported.
9:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Anonymous caller reported that there
is someone hauling a chair out onto the point and it just seems
weird.
Friday, Jan. 6
8:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing complaint.
11:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
11:45 a.m., Lutsen: Ski pass theft at the ski hill.
5:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he was dog-sitting a black
lab, and it escaped. The dog returned about 20 minutes later.
6:51 p.m., Tofte: Fire alarm at Bluefin was determined to be false.
7:02 p.m., Schroeder: Security alarm accidentally set off at
Temperance Landing.
9:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Some guests at Cross River Lodge made
a wrong turn onto a ski trail and their small black sedan got
stuck. A tow truck was called.
Saturday, Jan. 7
12:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to check out a loud
party at Cascade Beach Road.
1:36 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said that somebody threatened to
shoot her dogs if he sees them again.
2:38 p.m., Lutsen: Four more people were caught skiing without
passes.
5:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she has seen deputies
driving by a lot all day, and wants to make sure everything is
okay, and was wondering if she should lock her doors. She was
told the deputies were just doing extra patrols.
10:32 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested to remove an unwanted
person from the ski hill.
Sunday, Jan. 8
12:25 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of a dead or injured deer on
the highway. MnDOT notified.
8:41 a.m., Lutsen: Hit-and-run in the lodge’s parking lot.
12:18 p.m., Hovland: Trespassing complaint.
12:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck by a vehicle near Cascade
Lodge.
4:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked if a vehicle that has been
sitting in a private parking lot for a long time could be towed. He
was told no because it was on private property.
4:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Trespassing complaint.
8:22 p.m., Grand Marais: A dog owner called to report that his
cream-colored dog escaped from the dog-sitter in the area of
Second Avenue West.
