Friday, July 31

1:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint that Birch Terrace had customers and employees there after hours.

11:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a vehicle parked near the Co-op with two dogs inside and the windows cracked only slightly. The dogs were howling and panting.

11:36 a.m., Grand Portage: Report of two young teens in the woods near the old Mount Rose church who should be in summer school. Thecaller said they also had a bag of weed.

2:25 p.m., Grand Marais: ATV accident with injuries reported. Some juveniles went to the hospital on their own.

3:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a distressed poodle in a vehicle.

4:12 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a runaway.

9:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Loud explosion reported near the Coast Guard building. Shrapnel from a 4-inch by 24-inch pipe was found in the area. There were two male juvenile suspects, 14-15 years old.

9:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint that someone is cutting down trees on private property without permission.

9:31 p.m., Tofte: Ambulance requested after a woman and two children who were camping on the Sawbill Trail came upon a bee’s nest, and all were stung numerous times. They were transported to the hospital.

11:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Break-in of a residence reported. $25 was taken.

Saturday, Aug. 1

1:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Camper at the Rec Park reported occupants of a nearby site playing loud bean bag games.

1:43 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was found on the shoulder of the road in Lake County, out of gas. The driver was arrested for DWI.

3:00 p.m., Grand Marais: The sheriff was notified of a green Honda driving around near the Point with no license plates front or back, and the driver had a bandana around his face. The sheriff spoke with the driver. 7:50 p.m., Grand Marais: A Grand Marais man was arrested for DWI and driving after cancellation after he was seen leaving the city campground on 8th Avenue, and tossing a beer can out the window.

Sunday, Aug. 2

12:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Duluth man, 64, arrested for DWI.

12:48 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of a loud party.

1:15 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud music complaint.

8:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to a verbal altercation at the Rec Park, regarding site space and a cooler.

3:41 p.m., Grand Portage: A bag of marijuana was found in the trash at the gas station at Ryden’s. A deputy picked it up.

4:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Bicycle reported stolen from a camp site at the Rec Park.

7:53 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she overheard what sounded like a drug sale going on in Holiday’s parking lot. She said there was a young man with baggy pants talking to three teens and giving them prices and using a calculator. A deputy was unable to locate them.

8:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Citation issued to a Grand Marais man, 18, for exhibition driving.

10:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Caribou Highlands reported that four kids on mountain bikes might be lost on the ski trails. The boys returned a short time later, and rescue teams were cancelled.

10:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported.

10:31 p.m., Tofte: Loud music complaint.

10:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Residents reported they just returned from a weekend trip and found that their house had been broken into. There was a broken window, and food all over the kitchen.

Monday, Aug. 3

12:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about loud music and swearing at a campsite at Two Island Lake.

2:08 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a group of kids talking loudly and riding skateboards in the Rec Park. A deputy spoke with the offenders, and they said they were going to pack up and leave.

8:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of gasoline siphoned from a vehicle parked at the Brule Lake access.

10:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Car-deer crash reported on the highway near Spruce Falls cabins. 10:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a group roller blading up the Gunflint Trail, with a vehicle following with its flashers on, blocking the roadway.

1:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Property damage reported. Dirt was found in the gas tank of a truck.

3:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Checkbook register found.

5:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a broken-down vehicle in the middle of the street, in front of the school. Thevehicle was towed.

7:47 p.m., Hovland: Complaint of gunshots. A deputy found some people target shooting.

Tuesday, Aug. 4

1:16 a.m., Grand Marais: A game warden was notified of a coyote or young wolf that was limping around the roadway near the highway and Cascade Beach Road. The caller said there was no obvious injury, but doesn’t appear to be afraid or interested in leaving the area.

9:45 p.m., Schroeder: A bike rack with bikes fell off the back of a motor home at mile marker 70. Thebicycles were picked up by a motorist and pulled off the road. A Lake County trooper collected the bikes and will hold them for the owners.

10:00 p.m., Grand Portage: Family reported harassment because of a complaint they made about their neighbor a couple weeks ago. They were approached in Duluth and told not to do it again.

10:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of loud music and screaming.

Wednesday, Aug. 5

12:59 a.m., Grand Marais: A 36-yearold man was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality after he shot at a cat out his front door at Gofer Cabins. The caller was concerned the man may have been intoxicated or on drugs.

4:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a man harassing young women in the community.

4:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Twovehicle accident reported at the west end of County Road 7. No injuries. 7:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Coast Guard responded to a report of a small boat quite far out on the lake that was flashing a light or flare. The boat was having difficulty.

Thursday, Aug. 6

12:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputies, a trooper and a Border Patrol with K9 responded to the rest area at the Rock Cut following a report that a drug deal had occurred there. The two vehicles involved were still there, and two people were located on the beach and spoken to. It was determined the owner of one of the vehicles had a felony warrant.

6:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Credit card fraud investigation.

8:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a wanted felon may be in the area of County Road 44 and Pike Lake Road. Thesuspect has a St. Louis County felony warrant. Several units responded and searched the area.

10:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to remove kids from the skate park.
