Monday, Dec. 26
8:13 a.m., Lutsen: Ambulance requested at the ski hill for a
54-year-old woman who was involved in a snowmobile accident.
She was suffering from back pain and a possible concussion.
9:39, 10:23 and 10:25 a.m., Lutsen: Three “pocket dials” were
received from the same phone which GPS located on one of the
ski runs at Lutsen. Talking and foreign accents, and laughing
could be heard in the background.
10:37 a.m., Hovland: Fire Department assistance was requested
after some sparks from a burning brush pile hit nearby stumps,
and the property owner was unable to put it out.
3:38 p.m. Lutsen: The 14th call from a cell phone at the ski hill
was received, and only pocket jostling could be heard. It was
determined it was not an emergency, and efforts to trace the
phone and contact the owner were unsuccessful.
7:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a truck on the Gunflint Trail
with a moose in the back, but the plate was unreadable.
Tuesday, Dec. 27
6:00 p.m., Hovland: Report of a tree across the southbound lane
on Highway 61 at mile 127.
8:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Residents reported vehicle tracks in
their front yard and were unsure of what happened.
12:07 p.m., Lutsen: Snowboarder down on Ullr Mountain.
1:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Woman asked to speak with a deputy
regarding a domestic she was involved in with her boyfriend.
3:52 p.m., Grand Marais: The owner of a wallet that was found
and turned in left $20 as a reward/thank you to the person who
turned it in.
4:17 p.m., Grand Marais: A CO was called to shoot the antler off
a deer that was caught in a hammock.
4:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle went into the ditch off County
Road 14.
5:41 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $40.38 from Holiday.
5:55 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller asked for Human Services
intervention because his son, 10, was staying at a house with
no food and also there was a suspect there who stole and drank
alcohol a couple days ago.
Wednesday, Dec. 28
1:35 a.m., Grand Portage: 911 call received after a man punched
a window and a woman punched through a door during an
argument.
2:04 a.m., Grand Marais: A call was received from a man who
sounded drunk and said we must be proud of ourselves.
9:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a lost camera bag.
12:46 p.m., Lutsen: Hit-and-run in the parking lot at the ski hill.
12:59 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle rollover, unknown injuries.
1:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he has 50/50 custody but
hasn’t seen his daughter for over a year, and was wondering
where she was now. He said he has a PO box, but no address.
2:26 p.m., Hovland: Caller said someone tampered with his ATV.
6:31 p.m., Tofte: Minor injury after a vehicle rolled over near
Coho Café.
6:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch just west of the rock
cut.
7:24 p.m., Grand Marais: An injured wolf was seen hobbling
across the highway near Cascade River.
7:46 p.m., Tofte: Resident of Tofte Homestead accidentally set off
the fire alarm while cooking.
8:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Harassment reported.
10:59 p.m., Grand Portage: Casino security requested a deputy to
remove six or seven extremely intoxicated people who were cut
off, and were screaming at security and the bartender.
Thursday, Dec. 29
8:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Threats investigated.
9:06 a.m., Grand Portage: Two underage Canadians were stopped
with liquor.
10:40 a.m., Grand Marais: Bank fraud reported.
12:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported suspects he said were
providing pot, mushrooms and alcohol to minors.
1:01 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he just witnessed a drug
deal.
1:43 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller said someone stole a heavy
safe from his home. There was no sign of a break-in. The safe is
valued at $500 and contained $300 cash and personal papers.
8:31 p.m., Grand Marais: A moose was struck by a vehicle on the
Gunflint Trail. It ran off into the woods.
9:58 p.m., Lutsen: Harassment reported.
Friday, Dec. 30
1:33 a.m., Grand Marais: Motorist arrested for DWI.
10:03 a.m., Lutsen: Caller said his wallet was stolen from his
vehicle in Lutsen Mountains parking lot. Also, he said there was a
$924 charge to his credit card about one hour after the theft.
5:39 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $50.24 from Holiday.
9:13 p.m., Lutsen: Vehicle struck at Lutsen Resort.
9:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Male-female fight heard over the
phone, and then the phone went dead.
11:50 p.m., Lutsen: Papa Charlie’s reported a scuffle in the
bathroom.
Saturday, Dec. 31
2:22 p.m., Lutsen: Ambulance called to the ski hill for a 47-yearold woman with head and neck injuries.
4:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Traffic control assistance requested after
a vehicle went into the ditch near Golf Course Road.
Sunday, Jan. 1
12:43 a.m., Lutsen: Vehicle stop in Papa Charlie’s parking lot for a
small amount of marijuana.
1:44 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested to remove drunken
disorderly people from Caribou Highlands.
1:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck at mile marker 96.
3:01 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said there are vehicle tracks
going off the road before Pincushion into a deep ravine.
3:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Shoreline Motel reported that a man
was trying to get in the door, and he is not a guest there. He did
not appear to be doing very good.
5:43 a.m., Grand Portage: Domestic argument.
9:38 a.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle backed into a tier near the
emergency room.
7:56 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle parked in the roadway.
11:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Fire alarm at Johnson’s Foods.
