Tuesday, Dec. 13 11:56 a.m., Grand Marais: A black leather checkbook with hair tie holding the check register was found on West Fourth Street. 6:37 p.m., Tofte: Caller said the highway was very slick from Schroeder to Tofte. Wednesday, Dec. 14 8:48 a.m., Lutsen: A logging truck was stuck about seven miles up the Caribou Trail due to icy roads. Highway Department notified. 12:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported the theft of a two-wheel trailer hitch from his yard. 3:36 p.m., Hovland: A vehicle went off the North Road about a mile off the highway. Tow truck called. 10:22 p.m., Grand Portage: Citation issued for underage consumption. Thursday, Dec. 15 12:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone shined a flashlight into her bathroom window, and she saw them walking toward Holiday. 8:30 a.m., Grand Marais: A disabled truck was in the middle of County Road 7, near the County Road 6 intersection. The truck was moved off the road when a deputy arrived. 9:09 a.m., Grand Marais: A black lab with a blue collar was running loose on County Road 7. 9:47 a.m., Grand Marais: A refrigerator was dumped in a front yard on Old Ski Hill Road. 4:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputies responded to shots fired at the courthouse. 8:00 p.m., Grand Portage: Two employees’ vehicles were tampered with at the lodge. The vehicles had writing on them and the lug nuts were loosened. Friday, Dec. 16 12:58 a.m., Grand Marais: Harassing Facebook messages reported. 9:10 a.m., Grand Marais: A shed on Seventh Avenue East was broken into. 9:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to speak with a deputy regarding the goat on Cramer Road. 1:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said someone has been driving by and giving him the finger. 3:57 p.m., Grand Portage: Assault reported. The caller said he had bites all over his body. 4:49 p.m., Lutsen: Fire department called to douse a smoldering fire from Monday. Saturday, Dec. 17 11:38 a.m., Schroeder: A vehicle crashed into a ravine on the upper side ditch near the county line. 1:08 p.m., Grand Marais: Two-vehicle fender-bender in the Johnson’s Foods parking lot. 3:38 p.m., Lutsen: Lutsen ski hill reported that a woman was using someone else’s ski pass. Sunday, Dec. 18 10:57 a.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off from Holiday. 2:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch on County Road 60/Gunflint Trail. 3:18 p.m., Lutsen: Tree on the power line at Rollins Creek Road. REA notified. 3:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputies tried to locate a foreign worker who was trying to walk from Grand Marais to Lutsen. He said he was outside for two hours and was very cold and tired, and wants to lie down. He said he couldn’t get a car to stop and help him. Monday, Dec. 19 10:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported two vehicles were racing down the Gunflint Trail. 4:14 p.m., Lutsen: The ski hill reported that a couple ski passes have been switched, and were actually last year’s passes. 11:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he wanted a female removed from his residence because she was drinking and acting nuts, and he couldn’t take it any more. Tuesday, Dec. 20 3:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A wallet containing cash was found in a store. Wednesday, Dec. 21 8:47 a.m., Schroeder: Report of two coal fires at the power plant. 1:08 p.m., Grand Marais: A man who had recently been fired as a cook was making threatening remarks to a bartender and customers at another business, and showed a firearm to the bartender. 2:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Threatening e-mail was sent to a teacher. 3:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he heard about 12 gunshots on the Old Ski Hill Road. 4:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said he heard over 100 shots fired on Cascade Beach Road. 10:24 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed on County Road 48. Thursday, Dec. 22 7:41 p.m., Grand Portage: Some guy turned in counterfeit money at the port of entry. Friday, Dec. 23 5:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch on County Road 7 at Lookout Road. 8:28 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller said there was a 3-year-old child in the hallway at the lodge with only underwear. When the caller went into the room, there was a baby asleep on the bed, and no adults around. 12:56 p.m., Lutsen: The ski hill reported a female without a ski pass. 2:36 p.m., Grand Marais: A truck rolled into a vehicle in Super America’s parking lot. Saturday, Dec. 24 1:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Fire alarm at Lake Superior Trading Post. It was determined that there was smoke in the boiler room, but no fire. Como was called to repair the furnace. 10:12 p.m., Grand Portage: Rifle shots were heard on Townsite Road. The caller said there was also a lot of traffic in the area. Sunday, Dec. 25 6:38 a.m., Hovland: Vehicle in the ditch near Flute Reed River. 5:54 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a verbal domestic argument. The male was asked to leave the residence.
