Monday, Dec. 5
3:42 a.m., Grand
Marais: The Brown
County, Wis., sheriff ’s
office contacted local law
enforcement regarding a woman who
has called them several times asking
for assistance. She wouldn’t giver her
location, but stated she was in Grand
Marais. Deputies were advised to be
on the look-out, as the woman may
have mental issues.
8:06 a.m., Grand Portage: A man was
arrested and booked into jail on an
outstanding warrant after refusing to
leave the caller’s house.
8:46 a.m., Grand Portage: Caller
wanted a deputy to listen to some
threatening messages she received on
her voice mail.
3:44 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there is a young boy walking down
the Devil Track Road toward the
Gunflint Trail.
5:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assistance was requested to help
locate an elderly woman from Silver
Bay who had been dropped off at
Sven & Ole’s for dinner with friends,
but they were closed and the others
could find no sign of the woman
when they returned. She was found
by the time a deputy arrived.
8:59 p.m., Lutsen: Non-compliant
sex offender investigation (failure to
register).
Tuesday, Dec. 6
10:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Reported
theft of a snowmobile trailer.
11:10 a.m., Lutsen: Complaint of an
erratic driver at Cascade.
12:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
there is a golden retriever outside
with no shelter. The dog was inside
when a deputy came to investigate.
1:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck
by a vehicle near Benny’s Collision
last night.
4:56 p.m., Grand Marais: A man
requested to be taken to detox from
Sawtooth Ridges.
Wednesday, Dec. 7
No incidents reported
Thursday, Dec. 8
9:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
lost wallet.
12:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of
a suspicious grass fire near Clyde’s
Carwash. The fire was put out, but
the caller wanted to speak with a
deputy about it.

2:39 p.m., Grand Portage: Vandalism
at the church on Eliza Road. The
Christmas lights were torn down, and
there were footprints all over outside.
There was a suspect, as a passerby
saw two people taking the lights
down. The suspects may also have
shoplifted at the Trading Post.
Friday, Dec. 9
1:01 p.m., Schroeder: Caller said he
believed a goat tethered in a yard
was neglected. A deputy checked and
spoke with the owner, and found the
goat healthy and not at all skinny.
There is a flap on the shelter, and
straw, and the owner feeds and waters
it twice a day.
9:55 p.m., Lutsen: Thunder Bay
woman, 46, cited for speeding.
Saturday, Dec. 10
9:03 a.m., Grand Portage: The fire
department and ambulance were
called to Upper Road, where fire
alarms were going off and there was a
smoke/burn smell, but no flames.
5:32 p.m., Lutsen: Business owner
reported possible harassment by a
former employee.
7:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Someone
backed into the Bethlehem Church
and damaged a wall. It was unknown
who did it.
8:27 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported suspicious activity during
the night. He said someone went into
his vehicle (he found the back door
ajar), but nothing was missing.
Sunday, Dec. 11
8:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported that an injured deer
was lying on the highway near
Thomsonite Beach, and he dragged
it into the lakeside ditch. A trooper
responded to dispatch it, however as
he approached the deer ran away and
went too close to residences for the
trooper to shoot!
1:33 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
his neighbor cut several trees on his
side of the property line and has put
up a fence across his septic mound.
4:41 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
three vehicles passed him at a high
rate of speed through Cascade. All
three had Ontario plates.
11:49 p.m., Grand Portage: Threats
reported.
