Friday, Nov. 4
1:23 p.m., Grand Portage: A deputy spoke with
the guardian of a 12-year-old girl after she was
caught with some items stolen from a locker at
the pool.
Saturday, Nov. 5
1:25 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais
woman arrested for DUI and open container.
7:16 a.m., Tofte: Gas drive-of $57.58.
1:12 p.m., Schroeder: A deputy responded to a
burglar alarm at a Magney Lane residence, and all
appeared secure.
6:52 p.m., Hovland: Report of a lost World War II-era
machete off a motorcycle in the Arrowhead Trail area.
Sunday, Nov. 6
11:58 a.m., Tofte: Local business owner reported that a
man was caught on a surveillance camera stealing two
boxes of ammunition. He was described as tall, older,
blond, unshaven and wearing a blue N.Y. Cubs jacket.
A deputy stopped the car he and a female companion
were in and cited them for misdemeanor theft.
1:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of threats being made
against a woman regarding an Oct. 24 arrest.
9:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 46,
cited for speeding.
9:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on South Shore
Drive due to a fallen tree. REA was notified.
Monday, Nov. 7
9:04 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage at Gunflint Trail
Fire Hall 1. REA responded.
10:00 a.m., Schroeder: Trespassing complaint. A deputy
spoke with the man and informed him it was private
property.
10:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a dump truck
traveling recklessly on Clearwater Road.
11:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that four
people were running along the breakwall and out to
the lighthouse. She was concerned because of the wind
and waves. They were gone when a deputy drove by to
check it out.
5:10 p.m., Lutsen: Deer struck just west of town. The
vehicle sustained front-end damage and the deer ran
off.
5:54 p.m., Hovland: A hunter said he heard someone
yelling “help” several times in the area of Moose Valley
Road. A deputy checked the area and was unable to see
any signs of someone there.
9:33 p.m., Grand Portage: Thunder Bay woman, 48,
cited for speeding.
Tuesday, Nov. 8
8:58 a.m., Grand Portage: Theft of a full gasoline can
sometime during the night reported. The caller said she
also noticed that a bicycle was burned on the powwow
grounds.
10:24 a.m., Grand Portage: Complaint about gunshots
too close to the day care center. A deputy spoke with
the hunter.
2:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Lost cell phone reported.
5:24 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a possible drunk driver
with Ontario plates.
7:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that dogs were chasing
deer just outside the Law Enforcement Center.
Wednesday, Nov. 9
7:49 a.m., Hovland: Caller reported that her
granddaughter broke into her cabin on Arrowhead
Trail, and she would like to press charges.
8:40 a.m., Grand Marais: A wallet was found along the
highway, and the owner was contacted.
Thursday, Nov. 10
9:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Gunflint Lodge reported that
the roads were very icy, and a truck with a trailer was
in the ditch. A second caller said a truck was in the
ditch and the trailer was jackknifed across the Gunflint.
A deputy and the Highway Department responded.
9:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Vehicle in the ditch near
Swamper Lake. Traffic control was needed.
3:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern
about a vehicle that was parked at the entrance to the
snowmobile crossing on the Gunflint Trail for the last
four days, and was unsure if it had been moved. A
deputy determined that it was probably a hunter, and
the vehicle had been moved after sunset.
4:24 p.m., Grand Marais: One-vehicle accident near
the DNR fishery on South Shore Drive. No injuries
reported, but the vehicle was totaled.
5:40 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to remove
an intoxicated woman who wouldn’t leave the casino.
10:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that her
17-year-old daughter just took off following an
argument. She was wearing dark pants, white coat,
slippers and carrying a white garbage bag with clothes
inside.
10:16 p.m., Grand Portage: Citation issued for
possession of a small amount of marijuana. A deputy
gave the man a ride home.
Friday, Nov. 11
6:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck and killed at
Highway 61 and County Road 67.
1:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a vehicle
was driving up and down the fairways at the golf
course off Golf Course Road. It was determined that it
was OK for the driver to be there.
Saturday, Nov. 12
8:49 a.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay man, 46, cited
for speeding.
9:39 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Gunflint
Lake Road.
4:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Lake Elmo man, 49, cited for
speeding.
5:18 p.m., Colvill: Chisago City woman, 26, cited for
speeding.
Sunday, Nov. 13
11:56 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on Pike Lake
Road.
12:21 p.m., Colvill: Thunder Bay man, 51, cited for
speeding.
3:10 p.m., Colvill: Thunder Bay woman, 26, cited for
speeding.
4:20 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that a silver
car with Ontario plates passed her in downtown Grand
Marais and was possibly now near Croftville.
