Cook County Law Enforcement briefs

If you ever wonder what happens to your fishing lures when you snag them and break them off, this is a worst-scenario example of where they end up. This poor seagull had a fishing lure and extra line wrapped tightly around its beak and strewn across its body. Unable to free itself and eat, it flew into the wall at the American Legion, breaking its wing. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources was called to take care of the bird. Remember, if you can, retrieve your hooks and especially your fishing line. All too often they cause unintended damage to wildlife.
