Monday, Sept. 12
10:00 a.m., Grand Marais: A
cordless drill was found in the
driving lane of County Road
7 and brought in to the Law
Enforcement Center.
12:20 p.m., Grand Marais: A twovehicle traffic stop resulted in
speeding citations being issued to
two local drivers, ages 16 and 17.
1:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas
drive-off of $99. It is believed
that the driver thought he paid,
because he came in and said he
had gas on the card outside. State
Patrol was notified.
9:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Two
juvenile males who took off from
a Thistledew Camp group site
near Poplar River were found

and arrested for escaping a
correctional facility.
Tuesday, Sept. 13
1:16 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
investigated a burglar alarm at
Harbor Light.
8:00 a.m., Lutsen: Parties sent a
letter to their son that he is not
allowed on their property.
10:26 a.m., Hovland: Ambulance
and First Responders sent
to Whippoorwill Lane after
a woman fell from an 8-foot
ladder.
10:40 a.m., Grand Marais:
Deputy responded to an
unattended smoldering fire at
Sawtooth Cabins.
3:45 p.m., Tofte: Ambulance and
First Responders sent to Surfside
Drive, where a baby was born on
the bed. The mother and baby
were okay. The mother didn’t
know she was pregnant.
5:16 p.m., Grand Marais:
Anonymous caller reported that
his neighbor is getting synthetic
drugs shipped to him via FedEx,
and selling them.
8:19 p.m., Grand Marais: A
deputy spoke with the driver
of a car which was seen driving
erratically and unsafely near
Cascade Lodge.
Wednesday, Sept. 14
6:35 a.m., Grand Marais: A
deputy was called to Aspen
Lodge to take a dog to the
pound.
11:19 p.m., Grand Marais:
Deputy called to a domestic
argument.
11:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Driver,
25, arrested for DUI.
Thursday, Sept. 15
9:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported that she was supposed

to meet her father at the Co-op
25 minutes ago to go to breakfast,
and he has not shown up. He was
following her down the Gunflint
Trail and turned on County
Road 7 about 25 minutes ago. He
has no history of dementia. The
caller called back a short time
later to say her father drove to
Naniboujou Lodge.
2:03 p.m., Grand Marais: Report
that a bicycle was stolen from
Sweetheart’s Bluff.
6:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said $213.79 had been stolen
from his bank account.
Friday, Sept. 16
6:12 a.m., Lutsen: A deer was
struck by a vehicle at Highway 61
and Caribou Trail.
8:15 a.m., Colvill: Grand Portage
man, 62, cited for speeding.
11:35 a.m., Grand Marais: A
deputy took a lost dog to its
owner.
5:16 p.m., Grand Portage: Driver
said she swerved to miss a dog
and went off the highway, taking
out a fire number sign and
hitting a lot of small trees. There
were no injuries.
5:50 p.m., Grand Portage:
Counterfeit $20 bill received at
the casino.
10:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas
drive-off of $80.21. The driver
came in and asked if there are
any good places to eat in town.
Saturday, Sept. 17
4:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Loud
noise complaint about a group
staying at a trailer on 6th Avenue
West.
7:36 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assistance requested to escort
an unwanted person out of a
restaurant. The man said he was
the boyfriend of an employee

who was just fired, and he was
getting her personal belongings.
Sunday, Sept. 18
1:02 a.m., Lutsen: Deputy
advised of a very intoxicated man
who left Papa Charlie’s, heading
to one of the resorts.
6:12 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller
reported that there was a guy
on a bicycle riding down the
Gunflint Trail, and he’s hardly
visible in the darkness. He
has a small flashing red light
on the back of the bike, but
no headlight. The caller also
reported that there’s a dead deer
just west of mile marker 88 on
the highway.
9:30 a.m., Grand Marais: PUC
notified of a power outage on 7th
Avenue East.
12:52 p.m., Grand Portage:
Complaint about an ATV rider
driving recklessly through yards
on Bay Estates Drive.
1:05 p.m., Grand Marais: Check
fraud scam investigated.
3:14 p.m., Tofte: Caller said her
ex-husband came and took a
cord of wood from her residence,
and he’s not supposed to be on
the property.
3:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller
said her neighbor came onto her
property and used a ladder to get
into her apple tree and cut it all
up; some of it was hanging over
the property line. The apple tree
is over 100 years old.
8:35 p.m., Lutsen: Reported
theft of $500 cash from a foreign
worker’s residence.
9:21 p.m., Grand Marais: A
wolf was struck and injured by
a vehicle on County Road 7. A
game warden and deputy could
not find the injured animal,
which apparently limped off into
the woods.
