Monday, July 11
4:48 a.m., Tofte: A 20-year-old man called for medical
assistance after he burned his hand and fingers while
cooking. He said it was painful and could not close his
hand. He was checked by First Responders, but refused
transport by ambulance.
9:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported a westbound
tanker truck driving erratically on Highway 61 near County
Road 7.
9:20 a.m., Colvill: Check fraud investigation.
9:45 a.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with suspects who
had parked trailers in violation of the city code on North
Broadway, and advised them to move.
10:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Ambulance requested at
Trail’s End Campground for two females: one with a
concussion and the other with an unstable spine. Both were
transported to the hospital.
3:50 p.m., Lutsen: Deer struck and probably killed at mile
91. The driver was not injured, but the vehicle sustained
damage and was not driveable.
6:25 p.m., Grand Portage: Report that someone has been
getting up on the roof of the art gallery on Store Road and
drinking beer. The caller said a bunch of beer bottles and
other garbage have fallen down.
9:52 p.m., Grand Portage: A game warden was notified after
a bear was seen at the campground digging through the
garbage.
Tuesday, July 12
10:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Barking dog complaint.
2:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a truck parked
on Third Avenue East that was leaking gas. A deputy spoke
with the owner, who put a bucket under the truck and will
have the leak taken care of.
Wednesday, July 13
1:30 a.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint on Second
Avenue West. A deputy spoke with the residents involved.
9:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about a speeding
Suburban pulling a wood splitter on Brandon Lane.
10:36 a.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off of $39.80 at the
Trading Post.
11:46 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported ash, cinders and
smoke in the area of East Fifth Street. A fire department
member responded and saw no sign of smoke or fire.
2:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Hit-and-run reported in the
Coldwell Banker parking lot. A parked vehicle was hit from
behind, and a tail light was busted.
Thursday, July 14
9:16 a.m., Lutsen: A logging truck rolled over and off the
road, scattering its load, at the bottom of Caribou Trail and
Highway 61. There were no injuries reported.
2:54 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy spoke with
skateboarders who were riding in the middle of County
Road 7.
3:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to City Hall
after two motorcyclists had a disagreement with another
motorist about driving too fast in town. The motorist was
gone when a deputy arrived.
Friday, July 15
12:27 p.m., Tofte: Report of loud partying at Toohey Lake
Campground the past two nights.
3:42 p.m., Tofte: A vehicle hit a tree at the intersection of
Sawbill Trail and the Grade.
3:50 p.m., Grand Marais: Columbia Heights man arrested
on a Hennepin County warrant. He paid $50 bail and was
given a court date.
6:21 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported a drunk guy
lying on the sidewalk at the corner of Wisconsin Street and
Broadway. His wife was located, and they went back to their
hotel room for a night.
9:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a car with three or
four girls inside driving erratically around town and Coast
Guard Point.
Saturday, July 16
1:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Residential burglar alarm.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a kayak paddle
and kayak that was tied to a dock on Loon Lake. The kayak
was left floating on the lake.
9:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about the loud music
coming from the Raven. The caller was told that the city
ordinance allows the music to go on until midnight.
11:34 p.m., Lutsen: Deputy requested to speak with a loud
group at Lutsen Resort. The caller said they were drinking
and jumping off rocks into the lake.
Sunday, July 17
10:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she heard someone
shooting behind Go-Fer Cabins. The suspect said he was
shooting nuisance crows, and was out of the city limits, so
nothing illegal was going on.
1:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said a car pulled out in
front of her as she was leaving town, then drove about 30
mph and kept blocking her from passing. When the caller
did pass, the other driver gave her the finger. A trooper was
notified.
2:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a reckless driver in the
Coast Guard parking lot.
6:37 p.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
8:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about loud music at
the Rec Center at the Rec park.
