Monday, July 4
5:18 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage reported on Morgan
Road.
6:55 a.m., Grand Marais: Phone outage on the Gunflint
Trail.
11:07 a.m., Grand Marais: A lost Blackberry was turned in
to a downtown shop.
11:35 a.m., Grand Marais: A large boxer that was running
loose was picked up by a deputy and taken to the pound.
The owner was notified and claimed it.
11:57 a.m., Grand Marais: A deputy was called to the lobby
of the LEC to settle a loud argument between a cyclist and
motorist about rights of way.
12:13 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $98.90 from North Shore
Market. The motorist came back and paid.
2:50 p.m., Grand Marais: The fire department and PUC
responded to a tree branch on a power line on Fourth
Avenue West that was causing sparks and flames.
2:58 p.m., Grand Marais: A reddish brown object thought
to be an unoccupied kayak floating in the harbor was found
to be a log.
7:11 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller reported that his daughter
took a vehicle without permission.
10:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Fireworks complaint.
10:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Man arrested for fifth-degree
assault and interference with a 911 call.
Tuesday, July 5
9:03 a.m., Grand Marais: Verbal altercation reported after a
pedestrian stepped in front of a vehicle on Eighth Avenue.
12:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said she became separated
from her two children while hiking on the Superior Hiking
Trail. They all met up a short time later.
3:01 p.m., Lutsen: Abandoned van in the ditch on Caribou
Trail.
Wednesday, July 6
9:25 a.m., Grand Marais: A deputy was able to rake out
some small grass fires between mile markers 106 and 107
that were believed to have been started by an RV with brake
issues.
12:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $29.43 reported.
1:40 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported break-in of a storage
unit. Several items were believed to be missing.
2:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that someone
keyed the word “slut” into the back of her car.
6:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported theft of a crank relay
from a vehicle.
Thursday, July 7
10:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Parking complaint.
12:39 p.m., Tofte: Motorcycle-car accident near Temperance
River.
3:54 p.m., Lutsen: Wires were on fire at one of Lutsen
Mountains’ pump houses.
Friday, July 8
8:05 a.m., Grand Portage: Someone threw rocks and broke
windows at Human Services sometime overnight.
10:48 a.m., Schroeder: A deceased person was found in his
van at the antique store parking area.
12:07 p.m., Grand Portage: Complaint about an illegal fourwheeler on Mile Creek Road, causing a hazard.
3:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Motorcycle-car accident at the
intersection of County Roads 6 and 7. The motorcyclist was
taken to the hospital; the driver of the other vehicle was
cited for inattentive driving.
4:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Vandalism to a rental vehicle
reported.
5:29 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic argument reported on
Townsite Road.
Saturday, July 9
12:06 p.m., Grand Marais: High water flow alarm at the
water treatment plant. The PUC was notified.
2:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $56.79 from
Holiday.
5:56 p.m., Lutsen: Suspicious man reported hanging around
Cascade State Park and the lodge. A deputy checked on the
man and determined he was fine.
10:28 p.m., Lutsen: Fireworks complaint near Isak Hansen’s.
A deputy spoke with the involved people.
11:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Campers at the Rec Park
reported their cooler was stolen. It was found on the path
along the lake.
Sunday, July 10
12:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Noise complaint about the Birch.
The caller said the music is way too loud and he cannot
sleep.
6:07 p.m., Grand Marais: The fire department was called to
a residence where the fuse box was sparking.
7:53 p.m., Grand Portage: Power outage at the water
treatment plant. REA notified.
8:12 p.m., Grand Portage: Report of a suspicious black
vehicle that has been parked at the cemetery on Blaze’s
Road. The caller said there has also been a man dressed up
in voyageur clothing near the vehicle. A deputy spoke with
the man, who said he was sightseeing, and told him to find
a different place to stay.
