requested at the lodge to test some
controlled substances.
4:34 p.m., Grand Marais: Two reports of
tree branches blocking the traffic lane on
the Gunflint Trail. Highway Department
notified.
8:55 p.m., Grand Marais: Power outage on
Pike Lake Road.
Wednesday, June 1
1:44 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage at
Watters Point.
6:24 a.m., Grand Marais: Power outage at
Seagull Lake Road.
7:20 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy spoke
with a driver who admitted to school bus
stop arm violations.
10:47 a.m., Grand Marais: Illegal dumping
reported.
4:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller said his
neighbor had dumped garbage all over his
yard.
Thursday, June 2
2:03 p.m., Lutsen: Caller said her watch
was stolen from Caribou Highlands.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: A trooper
located a runaway girl and returned her to
her residence.
4:28 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy
requested at the casino after some drugs
were found.
5:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
that a pick-up full of kids almost ran him
off the road. The driver was identified and
told a deputy he was a new driver, and
was not sure who was going to go first at
an intersection.
6:09 p.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais
man, 63, cited for speeding.
6:30 p.m., Grand Marais: Duluth man, 22,
cited for speeding.
6:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Neenah, Wis.,
man, 49, cited for speeding.
10:01 p.m. Grand Marais: Grand Marais
woman, 41, cited for speeding.
Friday, June 3
1:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais
woman, 44, arrested for DUI and booked
into jail. A Grand Marais man, 30, was
cited for open bottle (passenger) during
the same incident.
9:36 a.m., Grand Marais: Extra patrols
requested on the Croftville Road due to
excessive speeding.
10:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Brooklyn Park
man, 32, cited for no valid insurance.
3:16 p.m., Grand Marais: A woman on
a bicycle was hit by a truck pulling a
camper on the Gunflint Trail near County
Road 8 and 54. The vehicle kept on
going. Cook County Ambulance, First
Responders and deputies responded. The
38-year-old bicyclist was taken to the
hospital. The driver of the vehicle was
located on the Gunflint Trail near Hungry
Jack Road.
4:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Medical
assistance requested for a kayaker who
flipped and went into the water for quite
some time. The caller said the kayaker
has changed into dry clothes, but may
be hypothermic. She was taken by
ambulance to the hospital.
7:58 p.m., Grand Marais: Maplewood
man, 68, cited for speeding.
11:55 p.m., Grand Marais: A woman
was arrested for domestic assault
following a report of a loud argument in
an apartment. The woman admitted to
snorting Loritab and was taken to detox.
Saturday, June 4
12:16 a.m., Grand Portage: Ambulance
requested for a woman, 51, who thought
she had been drugged. No transport was
made, but the woman’s sister took her to a
hospital in Thunder Bay.
2:07 a.m., Grand Portage: Grand Portage
man arrested and booked into jail for
domestic assault and criminal damage to
property.

9:31 a.m., Grand Marais: Apple Valley
man, 32, arrested for DUI and booked
into jail after he was seen driving
erratically on Highway 61 from Tofte.
9:35 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
that two underage women have been in
the bars in Grand Marais, using a fake ID
to drink, the last two nights.
1:11 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called to
the Rec Park for a dog bite victim.
3:42 p.m., Schroeder: Power outage
reported on Magney Lane.
Sunday, June 5
2:42 a.m., Grand Portage: Canadian man,
38, cited for speeding.
3:42 a.m., Grand Portage: Cottage Grove
man, 21, was taken to Miller Dwan by a
deputy for a psych evaluation following
an incident at the border. The man was
not making sense when he spoke, has
a history of emotional disturbance and
drug abuse, and was confused about his
whereabouts, saying he was kicked out of
Canada where he locked his keys in his
car. He was on foot, and Customs had no
reason to detain him.
10:16 a.m., Grand Portage: Gas drive-off
of $123 from Ryden’s. The Wisconsin
driver was stopped and paid with a credit
card.
Monday, June 6
12:00 p.m., Schroeder: Trespassing
complaint.
2:30 p.m., Grand Portage: Trespassing at
the C-store reported.
3:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Seat belt
violation citation issued to 26-year-old
driver.
4:23 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
that he became separated from his
family on the Superior Hiking Trail near
Devil Track River. They were eventually
reunited at the parking area.
4:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Seat belt
violation citation issued to 33-year-old
driver.
6:38 p.m., Lutsen: A black bag containing
tools was found near Hall Road.
10:37 p.m., Grand Portage: Caller
reported that his propane tank has been
leaking for the past couple days; he
initially thought the smell was coming
from a skunk, but then heard a hissing
sound and saw lots of propane on the
ground. The fire chief responded and
tightened the valve on the tank.
Tuesday, June 7
10 a.m., Grand Marais: An abandoned
vehicle was removed from a property on
West Second Street. It had been there for
over a year.
5:54 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
that a friendly dog came over to her
house, and she was unable to reach the
owner. A deputy came over and picked
the dog up, and took it home.
Wednesday, June 8
6:45 a.m., Grand Marais: A man came
into a store to buy cigarettes, and had
blood all over his hands and shirt. He left
on a mountain bike. A deputy located
the biker, who was intoxicated and had
punched out the window on his vehicle.
1:43 p.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
vehicle roll-over near Swamper Lake
Road on the Gunflint Trail. A man in his
40s was ejected.
1:55 p.m., Colvill: Report of sled dogs in
bad condition.
2:04 p.m., Grand Portage: Trespasser
reported at the casino.
Thursday, June 9
12:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
assistance requested to bring some fresh
water or Sprite to a dialysis patient. A
deputy picked up some Sprite from the
hospital and delivered them.
9:33 a.m., Grand Portage: The driver of
a vehicle that went through the port of
entry dropped off her kids at a friend’s
house and left a suicide note saying
goodbye to family and friends. A trooper
and deputies were notified.
10:03 a.m., Hovland: Assault reported.
2:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Intoxicated
driver reported.
4:00 p.m., Grand Marais: Human Services
assisted with a suicidal homeless man
who stabbed himself in the shoulder the
previous night and was treated at the
hospital.
4:57 p.m., Lutsen: Someone put a broken
condom with a white substance on the
center console of a parked car.

6:19 p.m., Grand Marais: Inver Grove
Heights man, 51, cited for speeding.
7:47 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
an injured fawn in the ditch off the
highway. It was not injured, just scared,
and everyone left so its momma could
come back and get it.
7:54 p.m., Grand Marais: St. Louis Park
woman, 19, cited for speeding.
8:40 p.m., Grand Portage: Power outage
reported on Ryden Road.
9:15 p.m., Grand Marais: St. Louis Park
man, 33, cited for speeding.
Friday, June 10
12:00 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a
missing canoer on Swan Lake.
1:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of a loud
truck driving back and forth, waking the
neighbors.
9:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Forged checks
investigation.
12:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Noise
complaint about motorcycles in the pit
near Devil Track River. A deputy spoke
with the cyclists.
12:49 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off
reported.
1:04 p.m., Grand Marais: Report that
a large piece of furniture just flew off a
trailer at mile marker 103. State patrol
notified.
2:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy
responded to a report that people were
beating on a person with sticks at the
library.
7: 50 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $80.26
reported.
8:39 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay
woman, 31, cited for speeding.
11:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy called
to check on the occupants of a vehicle
that was parked in front of SA since 5
a.m. They said they were waiting for
friends, and resting before heading back
to Indiana.
Saturday, June 11
1:11 a.m., Grand Marais: Deputies
investigated an underage drinking
party at the county pit on Bally Creek
Road. Two people were escorted home;
a trooper issued citations for underage
consumption and fleeing an officer.
10:23 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy called
to a loud argument on Margaret’s Road.
11:14 a.m., Grand Marais: Vandalism
reported to a vehicle that was parked
overnight at Birchwood.
11:17 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller said
he accidentally shot himself in the
hand while cleaning a handgun. He was
transported to Duluth via ambulance.
11:57 a.m., Grand Marais: Minor fenderbender reported at Dairy Queen.
12:33 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $58.77
reported.
2:29 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $41.56
reported.
4:08 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $53.71
reported.
7:07 p.m., Grand Marais: Illinois man, 28,
cited for speeding.
7:38 p.m., Grand Marais: Texas man, 49,
cited for speeding.
Sunday, June 12
1:59 a.m., Grand Marais: Lindstrom man,
21, cited for DUI and booked into jail.
5:13 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported
a blue Camaro driven by a young man
was burning rubber in the middle of
Wahlstrom Road. There was also a big
gathering of young people there the
previous night. The vehicle was gone
when a deputy arrived.
11:37 a.m., Grand Marais: Prior
Lake man, 36, cited for driving after
suspension.
12:32 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck
and killed by a vehicle about two miles
south of town.
12:39 p.m., Grand Marais: PUC called to
a possible blockage in the water line on
Second Avenue West.
6:07 p.m., Schroeder: Report of a dead
wolf in the middle of the highway. A game
warden was notified.
7:16 p.m., Grand Marais: Possible
harassment investigation.
