Monday, May 23
11:07 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller expressed concern that her
friend was late returning from the Boundary Waters.
11:53 a.m., Grand Marais: A runaway juvenile was taken into
custody and taken to Bethany in Duluth.
8:07 p.m., Grand Marais: A vehicle was stuck in the ditch on
Shoe Lake Road, north of Greenwood Lake. Someone pulled it
out before a deputy got there.
8:14 p.m., Grand Marais: Thunder Bay woman, 63, cited for
speeding.
8:56 p.m., Hovland: Trespassers at the concrete house were
warned by a deputy to stay off the property.
10:13 p.m., Grand Portage: Domestic argument.
11:17 p.m., Grand Portage: Thunder Bay man, 62, cited for
failure to stop at a stop sign.
Tuesday, May 24
7:28 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas was siphoned from a vehicle that
was parked at Sag Landing.
9:42 a.m., Lutsen: The door of a vehicle was damaged.
10:29 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that he lost a weapon
while camping. The Forest Service was also notified.
5:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Deer struck just south of Cascade on
the highway. The car was totaled and the deer ran away.
Wednesday, May 25
1:52 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller asked for help locating her
brother, who has had medical issues and had been drinking. He
was found and brought back to the resort.
10:16 a.m., Grand Marais: The driver of a motor home who
drove off from Holiday without paying $92 was located at Gene’s
Foods, and said his credit card must not have worked.
1:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Illegal dumping reported.
2:27 p.m., Hovland: Caller reported that a man was lying on her
deck and was told to leave, but he wouldn’t.
Thursday, May 26
12:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that two young
children in a pick-up parked at the school were not restrained
properly. A deputy investigated and found that the mother was
with them, and they were legally restrained.
1:11 p.m., Grand Marais: A large brown dog was seen
running around in the middle of County Road 7 near the Law
Enforcement Center.
1:32 p.m., Lutsen: A driver was seen driving erratically through
Lutsen, and the caller believed he was intoxicated. State patrol
notified.
5:32 p.m., Lutsen: A pick-up went off the road and hit a tree
off the highway in Lutsen. He was taken by ambulance to the
hospital.
8:26 p.m., Grand Marais: Ontario man, 25, cited for speeding.
Friday, May 27
11:13 a.m., Hovland: Deer struck and killed on the highway.
1:13 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy assistance requested for traffic
control on Wisconsin Street while a flatbed trailer was backing
out of the theater demolition site.
2:47 p.m., Hovland: Hovland and Colvill fire departments
were sent to a vehicle and cabin fire on North Road. Both were
destroyed.
3:18 p.m., Grand Marais: Burglar alarm activated at the Border
Patrol station. It was a false alarm.
3:20 p.m., Schroeder: Trespassing reported.
3:49 p.m., Tofte: Gas drive-off of $49.12 from Holiday. The driver
was found at Crescent Lake campground, and said he would
stop back and pay on Sunday, when he was going through.
5:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller wanted to make deputies aware
that it was senior skip day, and a party was planned at the Grade
tonight.
10:17 p.m., Grand Marais: Rochester man, 53, cited for speeding.
10:48 p.m., Grand Marais: Five people, ages 19 and 21, were
cited for drug (marijuana) and alcohol violations after their
vehicle was discovered parked on the side of the road at the
Grade.
Saturday, May 28
12:14 p.m., Grand Marais: A woman reported that there is a
large pothole or two in the Boulder Park lot, and she didn’t see
them and fell to the ground. The city street department was
notified.
4:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Dog bite reported. The victim was
treated at the hospital.
5:15 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that he lost his camera
somewhere on the Lima Grade Road.
Sunday, May 29
12:51 a.m., Lutsen: Power outage at an Alfred Creek Road
residence.
7:32 a.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that his vehicle was
covered in sugar last night. He just got it fixed from having sugar
poured in the gas tank last week, and he believes his ex-fiancee
is involved because she just sent him a text that morning that
mentioned sugar.
9:24 a.m., Creechville: Caller said he saw a black Chevy Impala
that was registered as a Wisconsin rental car run two stop signs.
9:50 a.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $15.96 reported.
4:10 p.m., Grand Marais: Gas drive-off of $15 from Holiday.
9:25 p.m., Grand Marais: Stillwater man, 40, cited for no proof
of insurance.
11:08 p.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of 10 tires and a
headache rack from a garage. The caller said she believes it was
her ex-husband, and he told her he already sold the items.
