Sunday, May 3
1:42 a.m., Grand Marais: Grand Marais man, 36, arrested for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated.
8:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a fox that appeared to be sick was hanging out near the four corners on Gunflint Trail.
9:51 a.m., Grand Marais: Report that a dog was chained to the stop sign near Wahlstrom Road, and nobody was around.
10:05 a.m., Grand Marais: Some abstract and title documents, ID and old checkbooks were found on old Highway 61, east of the Reservation River. The owner was called, but the phone was disconnected.
2:27 p.m., Grand Portage: Reported theft of a vehicle from the church parking lot. The vehicle and a male driver were found on Teal Lake Road.
8:12 p.m., Lutsen: Reported break-in of a cabin on Honeymoon Trail.
9:17 p.m., Lutsen: Deputies assisted the Maplewood Police Department search for a suspect involved in an armed robbery who was believed to be in Cook County. A vehicle matching the description was seen traveling 100 mph through Lutsen, and turned up the Caribou Trail. Road blocks were set up at various locations and a systematic search was begun.
Monday, May 4
9:54 a.m., Grand Marais: Several outdoor solar lights were reported stolen during the previous night. Broken parts were found along County Road 7.
12:10 p.m., Colvill: Grass fire.
Tuesday, May 5
4:14 p.m., Grand Marais: A blue 10-speed bike was found at the skate park.
6:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy spoke with the driver of a vehicle that was seen revving the engine and spinning up gravel.
8:46 p.m., Schroeder: Caller reported that what appeared to be a Duluthpack was lying on the shoulder of the highway near Temperance River. A deputy discovered that it was actually a bag of garbage.
Wednesday, May 6
1:28 p.m., Grand Marais: School bus stop arm violation reported near Great Expectations. The registered owner was located, and said he sold the vehicle about two weeks ago.
3:37 p.m., Grand Marais: A green vehicle with writing on the back window was seen speeding around town while kids were getting off the bus.
5:42 p.m., Grand Marais: A seasonal residence was reported broken into, but the owner was not sure when.
7:38 p.m., Hovland: Highway Department notified of flooding on the Arrowhead Trail at the North Road intersection.
7:42 p.m., Grand Marais: Caller reported that his neighbor was shooting near the road, and someone was riding an ATV.
7:45 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint about kids riding in a gravel pit for the past several nights. An officer checked the area and found that the kids’ parents were supervising, the kids were wearing helmets, and all laws were being obeyed.
10:03 p.m., Grand Portage: Canadian citizen, 25, cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and two hash pipes.
Thursday, May 7
5:57 p.m., Grand Marais: Complaint of a group of kids driving a moped on the sidewalk. A deputy found the moped parked near Sven & Ole’s.
7:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Forest Service notified about a report of three separate fires near Clara Lake Road, just south of the Grade.
Friday, May 8
12:45 a.m., Grand Marais: Report of three kids at mile marker 106 who were bent down at the shoulder of the road, and appeared to be surprised when the caller passed them. The caller said they appeared to be up to no good; the kids told a deputy they were out for a walk, and someone was supposed to pick them up along the road. Theyturned out all their pockets, and were not carrying anything out of the ordinary.
6:27 a.m., Grand Marais: Loose horses seen on Cutoff Road. Owner notified.
10:32 a.m., Grand Marais: A really low-flying white jet was seen headed northeast from Sag Road. It was determined to belong to the Border Patrol.
3:06 p.m., Grand Marais: Reported loss of a single-width windshield for a Lund boat. The boat was being trailered from Devil Track Lake into town.
9:42 p.m., Schroeder: Assistance requested by Lake County in locating a vehicle that was stuck somewhere near the county line. The driver said he had no idea what road he was on, or if he’d turned left or right from his cabin.
Saturday, May 9
1:47 p.m., Grand Marais: A man who dropped off some scrap wood at the pile near the water tower said someone had recently dumped hot coals next to the pile. The fire chief checked the situation and spread out the coals, and asked that a deputy periodically stop by during the day.
5:35 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested to search for two ATVers who went out on Blueberry Road and Camp 20 Road, and were about two hours late returning. The caller said she was worried that they may be in trouble.
6:52 p.m., Grand Marais: Deputy requested after a residence door was found open.
Sunday, May 10 4:16 a.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to remove some guests at the lodge who were refusing to leave.
12:35 p.m., Grand Marais: A deputy assisted a woman who went out on a second-floor balcony and got locked out.
6:20 p.m., Grand Portage: Deputy requested to remove an unwanted woman from a residence.
8:58 p.m., Grand Marais: An Isabella man, 40, was arrested for first-degree DWI and driving after cancellation after he was seen driving erratically on County Road 7.
