With the governor allowing indoor sports to be played this winter, basketball will soon be underway. The Vikings’ boys’ and girls’ basketball teams should begin practice on January 11.
Heading up the boys’ basketball team will be Andy Feddema. For the last few years, Andy has been an assistant basketball coach for the Vikings. Andy will take the place of former Head Coach Colin Everson who has left the area for a new job.
Assisting Andy will be Jackson Feddema. The junior high basketball coach will be Mitch Dorr.
Kelly Hawsen is back again as the Vikings’ girls’ head coach. Also back is her assistant, Becca Jorgenson. Kyler Hawsen will coach junior high, and Emily Jacobsen will be the volunteer assistant.
John Oberholtzer takes over as the head boys’ and girls’ ski coach in 2021, with Plamen Dimitrov as his assistant coach.
The husband and wife team of Dave and Becky Bartol will once again coach Nordic skiing this winter. Dave is the head coach, and Becky is listed as the assistant coach, if that matters to anyone.
Tom Nelson is back again to lead the Ice Storm Robotics team in what should be an exciting year, despite the COVID-19 restrictions.
Also teaching and mentoring, will be longtime Grand Marais Playhouse Director Sue Hennessy. Sue will once again head up the One-Act Play program.
