Cook County hockey players earn academic honors

The North Shore has an enthusiastic contingent of hockey players. Some of them are pictured here, including those who have been recognized in the national Skaters Keep Achieving Through Education (SKATE) program for academic achievement.

Ten Cook County youth hockey players qualified for the National SKATE (Skaters Keep Achieving Through Education) program. In order to qualify student athletes must maintain a 3.0 GPA or better during hockey season.

These students averaged a 3.25 GPA on the Silver Bay Squirts team: Nate Bilben, Ryan Christiansen, Patrick Pierre Jr.

On the North Shore PeeWees, Ryan Bilben and Chase Bronikowski earned SKATE recognition.

With the North Shore Bantams, Jake Bilben, Andrew Miller, Josh Prom, Connor Somnis, and Ethan Sporn were recognized.
