Karen Blackburn, executive director of the Cook County Higher Education, reports that last week’s fundraising event held at the Summit Chalet at Lutsen Mountains brought in more than $6,000 for Higher Ed.
More than 120 people turned out to hear featured four-time Winter Olympic skier Cindy Nelson give the keynote address.
“She was inspirational, motivational and delightful,” exclaimed Blackburn. “We were all held rapt by her stories and videos. After her presentation, she met, mingled and took photos with attendees. She was so gracious and kind.”
Blackburn extended a big thank you to Cook County Higher Education business sponsors who donated items and gift certificates for the silent auction.
“We raised over $6,000 for our Local Workshop Scholarships. These scholarships are available to anyone who would like to attend programming at Cook County Higher Education,” noted Blackburn.
