I’ve attended three community colleges and have had nothing but notso great experiences with them. So, I tried taking online classes. Working at my own pace and when I want sounds great right? It is, but it’s hard work.
Online classes take a lot more discipline than any in class setting. It takes a lot more time, as you need to read and teach yourself lecture lessons. Paying for online classes is much more expensive!
With financial aid not being good and all of the work, I found myself stuck. Most people hear about Higher Education and don’t actually realize what it is. I didn’t at first.
Did you know they are there to help everyone? Cook County Higher Education and the staff are the reason why I will be graduating this May, the majority of my work done on a computer!
It’s possible and it’s not just for younger students!
They are seriously amazing at what they do. They have helped me get through certain problems with classes, helping me stay on track. They check in with me and have inspired me to take advantage of the money available out there.
I have received a number of scholarships from them and they gave me the drive to apply to Dr Pepper (yes, the soda company). That’s competing against the whole world and I was chosen for a scholarship!
I hands down give all the credit to the staff there and the resources they provide.
There has recently been talk about what can people do to get the Higher Education more noticed. Go there! Take a class, even if it’s basic welding or how to use Facebook.
I have been doing school for free because of them, passing my classes and what I love best about the atmosphere is that I feel more than comfortable going there and getting the help I need. Cook County Higher Education truly cares about education and the students. I have not been at any other institution that has made me feel this way.
