Cook County Girl Scouts are busy

It’s Girl Scout cookie time! Local Girl Scouts have cookies in hand and are selling now. There have been cookie booths at the Tofte and Grand Marais Holiday Stations and on February 20 there will be a booth in front of Joynes Ben Franklin in Grand Marais.

The cost per box of traditional cookies, such as Caramel Delights or Thin Mints is $4. Girl Scouts now has a delicious gluten-free peanut butter chocolate chip cookie for $5. Proceeds from Girl Scout cookies help fund activities for local troops.

The annual Father Daughter Dance will be held 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at the Oddz & Endz building (formerly the Howl’n Wolf). The old dance floor will be cleared for dancing to the live music by the Cook County Community Band and there will be treats made by Rebecca Thompson. Keepsake photos will be taken.

Girls can attend with their father or another significant adult. The cost is $25 per adult and girl (or girls, if someone has more than one daughter!) Open to all ages and the entire community.

On Thursday, February 25, Girl Scouts will be celebrating “World Thinking Day.” Girls Scouts will explore a program called “Zink the Zebra,” a character with spots, not stripes. The all-age program looks at diversity and being different in a fun new way.
